Military - December 2007

At my church for Veterans Day, we honoured veterans. The veterans from Vietnam and WW2 just lacked the whole politically wcorrect attitude and it was refreshing. Even this current war in Iraq, just puzzles me becuase my husband gets briefed(he's in the army)on how to adapt to the iraqi's culture and religion. They give them manuals on how they act over there, so we do not offend them. But these WW2 and Vietnam vets when they stood up and said their little say about their experience, they said things like: I joined the day the Japs bombed Pearl Harbor,or.. I was about to be deployed to Japan when we got news that they nuked the japs and we all got to go home..now, it is not very popular to act like that,oh and to people who will say we killed lots of innocent people that day, well, if we would have went into Japan on foot, thousands more of American lives would have been lost, as well as Japanese, ..i guess i just wonder what happened to that America??

Russia and China have both said that now a US inteligence report states there is no proof of a nuclear weapons program

No sanctions and no military action is needed - Iran believes they have won a battle and the US will back down -

Bush and Israel are still vocal about Iran being a threat

China and Russia are veto wielding nations within the UN There will be no more UN sanctions as long as they are there and that has been made plain for all to see both in the past and in their current responses

In a deal according to AsiaTimesonline.com and other papers Putin has said "an attack on Iran equals an attack on Russia"

Russian bomber planes now patrol as a response and the Russian Navy has begun patrols in the middle east - Putin has compared Bush to Hitler and repeatedly warned against attacks
Will Bush back down or be forever frustrated by the UN or attack and risk all out world war

Which way he jumps will determine a lot in a short time

how do i get out with out making it hard on myself to get a good job.

2007-12-06 07:27:36 · 23 answers · asked by Anonymous

He is 27 years old, certainly not past his prime for joining up, but not young either.

His financial debt and concerns are a big reason for doing so. He has student loans and some credit debt that isn't cheap but not unbearable either. We both work the same job which isn't the greatest and this is another reason he is leaving.

Overall he seems guardedly excited about the opportunity. I'm aware of all the good in terms of serving your country and the options military service provides for people coming off their duty.....but I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm a little concerned about it, especially in a time of war.

What can I offer him as a roommate and friend besides support? He is getting ready to sign paperwork for all of this on Saturday. Maybe you've dealt with this before, or have a better understanding of how to best handle this, or are serving or have served the country before, and can offer advice. Thanks in advance.

My sisters husband just told her he doesnt want to stay married with her when he returns from Iraq. (i think he found someone over there. Shes waited faithfully for him)

They have one kid

He says he will give her half the savings account which is like $30,000 total

But he wants to keep their child

What can she do?

He just reenlisted and pretty much wants to give her the shaft.
He says he wants a divorce when he comes back....

this will cut her out of her military benefits.
What can she do?
Or is she stuck to find that after waiting for a year, she has to try starting a new life in the city where he chooses because hes stationed there,
with no education or no job.

Can anyone help.

I told her dont give him the divorce.
Does she have to give him the divorce?

If she doesnt then his housing allowance and medical benefits will still be for the family.

Can someone help here.
Its sad because my sister was good to him.

What is it really like being a military wife? The recruiter is really not going to tell me the nitty gritty stuff or sometimes even the truth. What is healthcare system really like? Is it good or bad? What is the recreation and the supposed discounts like? are they actually good? What about the housing and other allowances such as travel you are going to get? Please i really want the truth before my fiance and i jump in.

I lied at meps about two things

1. I got a speeding ticket out side of the county I live in so it didnt come out on the bacround check my recruiter did.

2. and I broke both of my elbows, one when i was in 1st grade the other while in 8th

the worst thing is both my recruiter and DAD told me to lie and i did which was a stupid mistake by me.

I was wondering if the investagator would find this out if so how should i come clean?

thanks for responding i really apprieciate it.

UGH! Can someone explain to me what I should get? Everything this woman on the phone tells me confuses me more. Should I get prime or standard? Atm I have standard.
AND my husband is deploying, I'm moving down to Corpus Christi to be near family. I'll need at least my annual womens ck up, and a yearly physical, plus little stuff I get like sinus infections, etcetera. Where do I go for that? I'd RATHER have a civilian doctor, dentist too... how does that work? This is all so new and utterly confusing to me still! Help!?

If Ron paul wants us out of Iraq and has more support from the military than any other candidate, what does this do to Rush Limbaugh's " Phony Soldier " idea?

2007-12-06 03:59:51 · 6 answers · asked by Anonymous

Right now we have our armed forces fighting for us in Iraq. But if a draft were started do you think the war would end. Politicians who decide what is going on would have their sons and possibly daughters being sent into a war zone. Do you think because their own families would be involved in the issue that the soldiers would be coming home for good. To me it seems pretty bad that many politicians want us to keep fighting but if it were their own son or daugther they would be against sending them.
