Joining ROTC will not help you gain admittence to
West Point.

You will still need to apply to West Point like all other applicants do, you will still need to be recommended.

You will still need to meet thier academic requirements, etc for admission.

But you can still apply to the Military academy, they do accept transfer students.

Your credits already earned, will count.

But you will also still have to attend for 4 years.

You will just end up getting double degrees.

I am a graduate of USAFA, so I know a little about the process. Yes, I think your years in college will help, and so will the ROTC, especially if you have good grades and recommends from your commander. However, of course, you will still have to do 4 years at USMA. (You may be able to lighten your course load at little over the 4 years at USMA through transfer credits and test-outs, which will help.)

Why do you want to go to USMA when you've already finished one year of college? If I were in your situation, I would just continue with ROTC and get commissioned that way. But God bless you in your quest to go to West Point.

This is a really great decision because it looks good on a resume. It also shows you were focused and had goals even as a young man.
Good Luck to you !
