Russia and China have both said that now a US inteligence report states there is no proof of a nuclear weapons program

No sanctions and no military action is needed - Iran believes they have won a battle and the US will back down -

Bush and Israel are still vocal about Iran being a threat

China and Russia are veto wielding nations within the UN There will be no more UN sanctions as long as they are there and that has been made plain for all to see both in the past and in their current responses

In a deal according to AsiaTimesonline.com and other papers Putin has said "an attack on Iran equals an attack on Russia"

Russian bomber planes now patrol as a response and the Russian Navy has begun patrols in the middle east - Putin has compared Bush to Hitler and repeatedly warned against attacks
Will Bush back down or be forever frustrated by the UN or attack and risk all out world war

Which way he jumps will determine a lot in a short time

I think that may be very possible! I saw a short video this morning of Bush talking about Iran and the NIE report, and he seemed almost desperate! He wants to go into Iran so badly that he can taste it, and that was written all over his face. He might as well have held up a neon sign *sm*

Actually, the report is quite emphatic that Iran DID have a nuclear weapons program that was halted 3 years ago.

So, if you are going to use the report as a proof, then, I would have to say that yes, there was a nuclear weapons program.

And there's the rub. Because, if the report is correct, then we can all breathe a little easier. On the other hand, it can also imply that a nuclear weapons program (which we now know definitely existed) can be RE-started (if it hasn't already). So, yes, Iran is still a potential threat and Israel, being in the neighborhood, is wise to view it as such.
What would you expect them to do otherwise?

Thats funny, you actually believe Russia would go to war over Iran.

That would be like the US going to war over Venezeula if Brazil attacked them.

Russia has also said, that Iran must stop enriching uranium.

China has said that iran must stop enriching uranium.

Europe has said Iran must stop enriching uranium.

So sounds like all three agree with the US, that Iran must stop enriching uranium.

Three years ago, everyone said neither Russia or China would agree to any sanction on iran,

Well both have signed off on the first two rounds of sanctions.

So why would Bush back down from his successful policy of applying international pressure against Iran ?

And what WW lll ?

Bush has never mentioned using military force to make Iran stop enriching uranium.

Bush has consistantly said, he will use diplomatic means.

Problem is we do not really know everything that was in that report. Remember the report is classified and only parts of it were released to the public.

Bush has seen the entire report.

These same people who signed off on this report have said the opposite was true since 2005. So how do we know this report is right? That makes all their reports for 2 years wrong. And that's not even counting the reports about Iraq prior to 2003.

What we do know is that Iran is the only country on earth who has stated that another country should be wiped off the earth.

We also know that Iran is continuing to enrich uranium.

Sorry but i for one wouldn't trust them to go to the corner store for a loaf of bread.

Bush and his neocon friends are being used as puppets for the Israel lobby. Israel is extremely careful not to openly leave the impression that they are pushing Bush to find a reason to attack Iran and start a horrible holocaust. Bush has still not comprehended: War is NO solution. America needs its own foreign policies. The US should stop to spend billions of dollars every year to support the hawks in Israel.

It terrifies me to think about it all. The last thing I want is for more of our young men and women to be out there dying for another war. Haven't we lost enough already?

I understand standing up and rectifying the situation from 9/11. What else is left to do?
