Join JROTC or Civil Air Patrol. Start exercizing on your own, emphazsis on running for speed *and* distance, pushups, situps and pull-ups; go to ta bookstore and get one or more of the ASVAB test-prep books; stay out of trouble with the law; see if you can find a copy of the most recent Soldier's Manual of Common Tasks--read up so you can at least know what's expected of you when you hit basic; wait til you turn 17, as we don't take folks any younger, with or without permission.
Good luck to you.

Research research research. There is nothing more important than research. You can get all the dang good grades you want but what you DONT want is to end up somewhere in which you didn't know what you were getting in to. Trust meeeee.
On top of that...Yeah, get good grades, study in HS and study for the ASVAB and if you score high, it only means the more jobs you can pick from.
JROTC ofcourse, that's a taste of what military is like. Just a bit, but nothing can prepare you more for the military than being in the military, even then, you're still going to question a lot of things. Just keep an open mind on the military lifestyle, get a head start now before it's too late.

Also start lifting weights and start eating the right foods and drinks dont start smoking, and also dont drink more than 1 can of soda a week and drink lots of water. Good luck. Here is a good plan. Join JROTC and the boy scouts in high school. After Junior year of high school join the ARMY National Guard or ARMY Reserves if you plan on attending ROTC in college. If not , wait till your 18 to go active duty or stay in a reserve component until you graduate college, then go active.

I joined the National Guard when I was 16. My advice is to be active. Play team sports, listen when others are talking and be a good person. Basic wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. They do not make you do more than you physically can. Once your body quits, just keep trying and you'll be fine. I'm a strong believer in being enlisted 1st, then becoming an officer. I had to deal with way too many frat boys right out of college as officers.

JROTC is a good option, but was not available for me.
Stay in school and graduate with your high school diploma. This way you can get college benefits from your service too!
Also, look at the USMA and see what it takes to join, and explore becoming an officer and gentleman. Enhance your high school career to include leadership activities such as extra-curricular activities and sports. Speed and strength are essential to an Army career, especially in the combat branches.
If you want to go USMA at West Point, let your parents know, because they may be able to help you and also let your U.S. Senators and Congressional Representative know too. The USMA entry process is dependent on their recommendations, so you need to contact them early and let them know you are interested.
Additionally, attend recruitment meetings at your high school and let your guidance counselor know you want to join so he can facilitate meetings and work with you in providing the resources to join after graduation.
Minimum age is 17 to enlist or enroll at USMA or ROTC. At 17, you need your parents' permission. At 18, you don't.
Good luck to you! And keep those grades up! No lower than a B, and get involved with your school's extra-curricular activities.

There is JROTC, Civil Air Patrol, and private military high schools.
The military schools are usually pretty expensive. CAP is an excellent program. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but you do some search and rescue volunteer work. I believe you may also have some sort of preference if you decide to be an Air Force Officer in getting flight slots. You should look into it.

to my knowledge you can't join until you are at least 17. Secondly yes.. Theres plenty you can do. First you can buy yourself an ASVAB study guide and keep studying it until you feel you mastered it. Then go and take the ASVAB. Next run and do push-ups at a good pace. Work your way up. Google some good running plans. Also research some push-up and sit-up plans. Plenty out there. Last, stay out of trouble.. Say the last line prior to this 3 times.
Ps: read Catch-22..

ok first of all you CANNOT join at 16, you have to be 17. now if your a junior at the time the only thing you will qualify for is ARMY RESERVES, until you are a senior then you qual for reg army and reserves. what i suggest is you STAY IN SCHOOL! STAY OUT OF TROUBLE! DONT DROP OUT! when the SASVAB (Student Armed Services Vocational Apptitude Battery) is given in your school take it and do you best at it. you can study at military.com or simply google it and click the links. dont pay for a study guide though there are too many free ones out there.
ask questions. have your parents ask questions. the only silly question is the one you dont ask.
