I disagree with most of the statements you've made above, You definately don't know the Russian Navy if you think the Typhoon is quiet, that sub is so big it makes noise just sitting in the water when de-activated! Of course, it is hard to argue with a submarine carrying 20-SS-N-20 Balistic missiles and having the capacity to take out 180 targets from one boat!

They do have some good equipment these days, but they don't deploy any of it in significant numbers, you can count the number of operating Mig 35s on one hand.
The T-90 tank is a good design, but the in-barrel missile system is very prone to failures. When it happens, it makes the gun useless until the crew gets out to clear it!
The US still has the best Multi-Launch Rocket System in existance, the soviet system isn't even close to matching it's lethality.
Best trained special forces will always be debatable, until we put them to the test, the US SF has better equipment, (better funded) but that doesn't mean better soldiers.
Soviet Radars make most soviets missiles worthless. America still has smarter Radar and missiles, this goes back to testing and R&D, simply put, we spend more money and get more product.
As for ICBMs Russia has always had a strong rocket force, but you don't really need pinpoint accuracy with a 5-10 megaton warhead. Heck, the Chinese make better missiles! When was the last time Russia shot a satellite?
Kornet doesn't hold a candle to Javelin, Hellfire, or the latest Maverick. It's just too dumb. It doesn't even track well, (the ones we tested at Groom Lake didn't)
The biggest problem the Russian's face with their new equipment is combat reliabilty, it's just not battle proven yet. A tank awaiting repair in the motorpool is not a combat asset.
Three high-tech aircraft just can't get the job done.
Don't get me wrong, I ain't saying everything they have is crap, but your picks just aren't proven, and you were dead wrong on the sub, they have better than the typhoon.

Have you ever heard the term propaganda? That is clearly what this is. They do not have such technologies nor the money to build them even if they wanted to. This is probably the same concept like President Regan's Star Wars program that was never really built.It was however a effective tool to scare the Russian's and close out the Cold War ahead of schedule. So I say what ever to this non sense, only we have the money, technology, know how, ambition, creativeness to built the most state of the art weapons systems. The best tank in the world is the M-1 Abrams. The best jet fighter is the F-22 Raptor. The best attack helicopter is the AH-64 Apache, hence the nickname Flying Tank.

Even if all of that were true, it takes more than just the best hardware

Military might requires at least three different facets. The hardware and technology like you said, force projection capability (the ability to deliver an effective force) and numbers.

Russia may have a kick *** fighter, but how many of them can they afford to build and maintain, a few dozen? Additionally they haven't been developing missile defense for the last 8 or so years. They have some catching up if we get a working one in place. That will be huge.

In addition to our vast and and technologically advanced aresenal, we have the GDP to support it, and we constantly retrofit new hardware with even newer technology.

Are they a worthy adversary? Yes.

Are they praying for war with us? I doubt it.

I have every reason to think that this is totally untrue. Russia is not dumping this much money into the military atm. In fact, their tanks are still cold war era, and are NOT currently being upgraded. As for the rest, the US STILL owns the sky and the sea. Until that is changed, i think the chips are still on our side. And for you military hates and us haters, go ahead, give me a thumbs down, but you know its true...

Good for them. If it came down to it, we could still kick their butts. You can have all the best equipment int he world, but if you don't know how to use it, it might as well be a bunch of toasters. And that's the problem the Russian (previously the Soviet) military has always had problems with.

As with any military in the world, you are only as good as your weakest link. The absolute finest equipment is all but worthless is your people are not equally as good. I'm not knocking the Russians but the US is the very best and for good reason.

Word Bono! They said they have all these best weapons but who do they have to operate them? You still need the best soldiers in order to win a war. All the tech won't help you if you don't have people to run the equipment.
