i am proposing to reconstitute a civic duty to our fellow homeless people. i know that most people frown upon the sight of them, but what if we re-introduced them to society with the chance to give something back and better themselves. i propose to offer to 'enlist' the many 'capable' homeless people out there, and offer them shelter, food, clothing and training for work. after we 'enlist' them into this government program, we shall train them to be active soldiers and ready citizens to defend America in a time of War! think about it, our standing army will increase by the millions if we do this right! plus, they will no longer be homeless, and they will have some discipline and training for future work opportunities, and be able to have a roof and food on a daily basis!!! what do you think?

Honestly, how much do people think these guys get paid? my husband is an E3, eh and I and our baby are living below the poverty line. Through very careful budgeting we're able to make ends meet.

I've had people telling me that we've got it lucky, that we're in the military to get rich, etc. My husband could make more than double what he currently does if he was in the civilian world

I've been to Basic Training, but because I am split option, I have to finish High School before I go to AIT. I graduate next year, because I dropped out and then got back into High School. My Dad is going to Iraq for the second time and my brother who is over there for the third, just got extended six months. My views about the war have changed...and I just don't want to be a part of the Army...Is there anyway that it is possible to get out before you ship out to AIT? I wont be shipping until next summer. Until then I have to keep attending these pointless drills at the RTI (Recruit Training Institute)) When I would just rather get on with my life...

Someone told me that they now require an actual HS Diploma and that a GED was no longer good enough. I am a veteran, and my 16 yo son is interested in the military.

It is our first child and although he should be back by the time the baby arrives, he (and I) feels like he is missing it. I send him pictures of my growing belly and he has a sonogram picture with him. What else will make him feel involved and a part of it too? Also, do you think this will affect his relation with the baby?

My fiance left for AIT 2 days ago, and i've been stressed and crying. I realized, that 16 weeks will go by fast and there no is need for pain, just happiness for both of us! I saw someone of you have your husbands and wifes gone for 1-2 years! I

My question is, my fiance is gone to Ford Leowood, Missouri, for AIT. His knee was broken badly! and we didnt have enough money to pay for it, so its still sore. He still went to AIT, with a injuryed knee. He told me AIT ssg will help him through it.

After he finishes AIT, What happens, does he get deployed, to Germany, Iraq ? He told me they can't sent him over seas for some reason, can it be true?!

Thanks a lot everyone!!!

Recently Senator John McCain (R) AZ has questioned General George Casey and challenging the general on what is happening in Iraq. Does McCain have the audacity to think he knows more about battlefield tactics and about the details of the Iraq quagmire to be in a position to criticize a general who was there and who needed to make decisions. Senator McCain may not approve of the handling of affairs in Iraq and certainly has the right to question General Casey but to make statements that seem to discredit the general and his decisions when McCain wasn't there at the time with the general when decisions were being made.

My husband has been in the airforce for 10mons and he loves it.
I have always wanted to join the airforce but when I got pregnant with my daughter I sort of gave up my dream. My husband was a police officer at the time and he did not want me to join. So when he decided to join I was upset but I got over it. And now that he's in I'm kind of sad because this was my dream not his. He recently told me if I still wanted to join it would be okay! I just wanted to know if I did join could we be stationed at the same place and what is it like to be in togther?
