After the Chechen school incident, I don't know how Russia can associate with a terrorist-backing state like Iran.

If Russia abandoned Iran, we would bomb it realatively quickly. Russia and China both are in cahootes with Iran. That is the only reason we haven't surgically striked Iran yet. The leaders of Iran recently met with the russian president behind closed doors. This last summer 2006 China and Russia participated in joint military excercises for the first time ever! Usually, they are in disagreement over border disputes and have had factional firefights. This is probably an alliance forming as we see it! If we attack Iran it could be the begining of Armageddon. If we do not attack Iran Israel probably will. The stage is being set.

At this point in time I don't think the element of the U.S. and Russia jealousy or even Russia helping Iran will necessarlly end the war.
The war in Iraq must be cast in context of what is going on in the world as a whole. Although differing geopolitical points of view do indeed factor into what is happening in Iraq to a certain extent; it is not as great a factor as and not nearly as important a factor as the general friction of what is going on within the religion of Islam as a whole.
This is not a slam to Islam but just a general observation of a great struggle that is now currently developing.
Yes, Russia and the U.S. color their methods of dealing with elements of militant Islam through differnt lenses and goals in mind. Yes, this causes problems as it applies to Iraq and Iran.
I believe the more important question here is whether or not there is a shortsightedness to the approach taken by either of the countries that is a disservice to the world as a whole and not just to Russia or the U.S.
My personal feeling is that I don't believe for the world as a whole that it is a good thing for Iran to develop nuclear weapon capabilities. It is an especially more alarming prospect when you put what is going on in Iraq in the bigger context of the extensive problems and destructive infleunce that the current government of Iran is trying to project throughout the middle-east. They are not limiting their aims to Iraq but are fighting a proxy war with Israel through Hezbolla. They are doing this while at the same time trying to fight a proxy-war with the U.S. in Iraq and to a certain degree have succeeded in moving the U.S. to the point of a stalemate with the insurgency in Iraq.
This I don't think any objective person can deny is happening.
I don't like it and it is not a good thing for America or the world for the government of Iran to succeed.
The question is from here to me is how much will this proxy-war escalate and is the American populace adequately informed enough to understand the things that are at stake in this matter.
Sincerely,
A guy that went to Iraq and had his eyes opened(crazy a)

I have to say that Mr Tahoe Realtor is right, the Russians and Chinese governments do not like the USA for many reason.
They feel that we are to wild in our way of life because of the freedom the civilians have it has cause their own people to go against the order they all were forced to obey.
The Russians partly blame the USA for the poverty that has affected their economical growth and for this they condone a lot of the money scams to Americans.
I believe the Chinese are paying the Russians to hack into American computer systems as so one day just a flip of a switch
would disable our defense system and then it would be all over so they think.

It's over each country's interests, not being superpowers. Nothing will stop Iran from hating the US, short of kicking out all the extremists like Ahmadinejad, Khamenei and their ilk.

I agree with the previous poster, the school incident that the ****** radical Islamic Chechen rebels instigated was one of the worst acts I've seen from a terrorist group. Sick.
