Nope - The SU-30 carries Alamo or Adder misilles

The Alamo is like a Sparrow and can be Radar or IR guided.
The Adder is like a AIM-20 AMRAAM.

They both face forward. Since most missiles are used at long range, it doesn't matter what direction the Aircraft faces - but it kinda sends the wrong message to the pilots/public that the missiles are built to be used by running away. Screws the whole power projection thing.

Usually, you don't run away from missile-toting adversaries. It only gives them a heat source from your engines (if you're running, you might have your burners on). And if they're close to you, unless the missile is very manueverable, they'll just dodge it and pour some bullets into your backside.

So if you're looking to be running, or jumped by bogies because you aren't paying attention, then this might be a good idea.

The f-22 is equiped with a "look-down-shoot-down" system. This system works with the tracking system hooked to the helmet and the pilot just has to turn his head to lock down on the opponent.
