miltary, and do you think they are reconized enough in iraq and afganistan and everywhere else that they do there work for what they do on a regular bacis?

Not sure if the Marines call it Boot Camp or BT but what kind of shape do you need to be in to get through it alright?

Ive heard thats what the Marines are great at, taking out of shape people and over the weeks making them some of the best soldeirs on earth. But to get to the point; Im in DECENT shape; Im not a big guy or a real strong guy but Im not really terrible either. Im about 5'7, 160 lbs, I can run ONE mile in 6-7 minutes (but any more than a mile then Im SOL), Im not really weak but according to the recruiter you just need to be able to do pushups and sit ups, it was like like 50 in a minute and a half or two minutes or something, and I can do both in under a minute but yeah.

How hard will BT be for someone going in, in fairly decent shape? And what are some things I need to get up or some things I need to get ready for?

Hello im interested in joining the marines or the army. I would like to know the pros and con of both.. also how much i would get paid and any other benefits. I would also like information on boot camp like what happens there before you join the army/marine. Any help is appreciated :)

i have a 21 yr old son. He is currently stationed in Iraq. i find that there is plenty of help and guidance online for spouses ...but no help for moms. Does anyone know where i can start?? Does anyone know where i can request phone cards sent to my son and his buddies??? They need so many things out there...but i can't supply all the things for their comfort. I have sent many care packages to my son and his buddies...but it is starting to get very hard...i have 2 younger children at home also...

From what I see, got about 100,000 there sitting around doing almost nothing. Never hear of them really doing missions, etc. Just once in awhile. You'd think each day they'd be sniffing out the killers, sweeping towns, etc. So it seems instead of 100,000 sitting around, now gonna have 120,000 sitting around. Am I missing something?

You know what? I live way out in the country.I am a stay at home dad.I don't know anybody who is in the military and the only adult conversation I have is when my wife get's home.I seriously doubt if the terrorist are coming out here to get me.I really couldn't care less about the war.How does it affect your life?

My money would be on the SAS those guys are phenominal. Especially their long and gloried existence from world war two to the Iraq war.
The SAS get my vote just for the fact they are continually excellent.

2 parents, 1 kid (2-yr-old). Wife is pregnant. Do we rate anything bigger than a 2 bedroom house? Right now we live in a 2-bdrm house and have been told by base housing that the rule is we are stuck like this until the oldest is 6-years( if the youngest is opposite sex) or 10-years (if they are the same sex).

The other option is moving out of base housing and buying a house, but thats a little more difficult.

Alright so Im probably about half this guys size and hes trying to start sh!t w/ me for no reason, just because Im w/ some chick he likes but the girl like hates him. Hes SUSSPOSEDLY coming down to his friends house in my neighborhood then coming over to my house sometime over the weekend, but alot of other kids involving her have said sh!t like it but always ended up *****!ng out.

But if it happens, how is someone half the size of someone sussposed to but up a decent fight? Any advice?
