2 parents, 1 kid (2-yr-old). Wife is pregnant. Do we rate anything bigger than a 2 bedroom house? Right now we live in a 2-bdrm house and have been told by base housing that the rule is we are stuck like this until the oldest is 6-years( if the youngest is opposite sex) or 10-years (if they are the same sex).

The other option is moving out of base housing and buying a house, but thats a little more difficult.

@james, according to what i was told even if they are opposite sex, i still need to wait until the oldest in 6-years old. Does that sound correct, is there anything that can be done.

Have you considered doing Private Rental? Then you can choose the size of place you want. But to answer your question, yes, that does sound right....It can also go according to your Rank.

Unfortunately that is correct. I'm in Marine Corps Housing at a Marine Corps base and deal with many Marines in housing and their issues. If the child is of the opposite sex, you will be granted another house with another room. There's no easy way other than what they told you. Good luck.

whilst I dont disagree with the above reply...with any luck will you be moving before that time span...............if so then its pretty much a given that you will get a 3 bed roomed place on your next move......................mind you count your self lucky in some ways as IF you was in the UK it is NOT uncommon for opposite sex kids up to the age of 14 to be sharing.........

Good luck with the new arrival.
