I have served in the Marines on Active duty, and the Army Reserves, the Marines have a reputation for being the best, and baddest of the services. But the Marines have limited locations for being stationed, especially if you want to see the world, and bases/facilities can be more limited than other services. The Army is obviously larger, has more locations to serve (especially overseas) than the Marines and usually has better bases and facilities than the Marines. Both services have almost all the same types of jobs available with a few exceptions. Basic pay based and benefits on rank is the same for all services. Enlistment bonuses, college funds, and some other enlistment options vary by service. Boot camp for the Marines is about a month longer, and all Marines are "trained riflemen" so no matter what your job is, the basic idea is that you can get pulled for any basic rifleman task.
Either way you should "shop" the services through recruiters, and service members online. They can give you all this information, just remember recruiters are trying to sell you on their service, so take their information, compare it and make your own decision. And be sure about the job you decide to take and the service you join, because once you do, you'll be stuck with it for the length of your enlistment

The Army has a good plan for education and bonuses for each year you serve. take a look at the us army recruitment site for details.
I don't know about the Marine Corp programs, but the Navy will pay you as an officer ensign grade while you go to school and help with the costs of tuition etc. to become an officer through ocs. They have a program to become a pilot also called aviator officer candidate school check it out!

You should contact your local recruiter with these questions...that is, if you want informative answers.
I was a member of the United States Air Force, and I came dangerously close to joining the Marines.
Go to a recruiting center where you can talk with representatives of ALL the branches of the Service before you make your choice!
I think it is VERY admirable of you to want to serve your country! Good Luck & God Bless!

Army. WWW.goArmy.com;
For either branch:
I suggest you make it a point to get in shape first (endurance training)
Also get a StudyGuide for the placement tests and practice practice, practice. The higher your score on the entry exam, the better the job offers you'll be presented with. (My philosophy is to work "smarter" not "harder"!)
The Marines are significantly smaller and closer-knit than the Army community.
I think Promotions/Advancement comes quicker in the Army.
Talk with recruiters from all branches and do independent research before making a decision. Good Luck

First, the navy invented the A** gap boss! But there are a few well ones too. The Military is usually a first-rate activity, however there's plenty of monotonous crap to place up with too. Evil-mindedness is discouraged, Devious-mindedness is motivated! Strength and Stamina are pre-standards nonetheless, the navy nonetheless has but to determine how one can deliver each soldier a forklift, however they load you up like they did! The one commodity the Military demands is traditional feel. Patriotism is first-rate, however watching at a crisis and understanding whilst to mention "no" will hold your men alive. The trick is understanding how one can say "no". That takes international relations. Diplomacy is outlined as "the artwork of telling any individual to visit hell in the sort of method that they seem ahead to the travel"!
