is there a way to get back into the military after a bcd ?

In my opinion the tactics (cash bonuses, targeting disenfranchised youth, dangling post-secondary education etc.) that are used to recruit individuals can be very shady. I would rather they have "volunteers" seek them out instead of trying to lure kids. And yes I know that young poor kids do not represent the entire military but they sure are the backbone of it.

Another reason that I feel the service is semi-voluntary is because of stop-loss orders. My brother who was in the army served during the invasion of Iraq in '03, received a stop loss order, and then served an additional 1 year tour. Do you think that service is voluntary after a contract has been fulfilled or is this a backdoor draft?

My husband is coming home from Iraq in a few weeks YAY! but I am worried about things. I know alot of soldiers come home and are fine, but then some aren't ok at all. What should I do to make things good around here until he gets back into things? I know try not to argue with him but is there anything else? Also how are they about talking about their experiences? I have heard people say don't bring it up to them at all. Thanks for any help!

Granted combat pay is a little more, and it costs some money to move military vehicles overseas; however, the difference is not going to be huge as far as money expenditure goes. America pays its military whether it is fighting or not. Americans are really kind of stupid to think a lot of money is wasted in Iraq. If we weren't using bullets, fuel, and other expendable resources there, we'd be using and paying for them during combat training manuevers here. The only real difference is that a few more soldiers die in combat than in training manuevers. However, what is the total loss of US soldiers over 5 years in Iraq? A frikkin' 2000? 400 a year. That is not even a drop in the bucket as far as wars go. Heck, we lose more soldiers to friendly fire. I'm sick of pansies worried about the $ cost of war. There is no substantial cost difference in peace or war with a frikkin' suicide army of insurgents when you have US combat technology. What an embarrassment that US citizens whine about this

I've served 8 years and and ETS'ed active army as an E-5. Now I have to report to some Nasty Girl Unit in 1 week about 20 miles from my home. Rumor is they are deploying in four months. I am so disillusioned with the war and everthing that I could puke.I thought I was done. Now this. Has anyone else with over 7 years been called back? I'm a 92Y.

Alright, I have a really busy schedule Atm, I work from 7AM-5:30PM. So I don't really have alot of time to workout and such. My job is pretty leniant so I can study my ASVAB book sometimes, and even sometimes do a few push-up's and sit-up's when the boss runs to do something  But what i'm wondering if anyone could make any suggestions as to where and when I could sneak in certain workouts that would highly benefit me for joining the USAF, and going into BMT. I work Mon-Fri, the times listed above. I usually don't go to bed until like ~1 AM. So I get just enough sleep for work. I was thinking maybe wake up at ~5AM and run for like an hour, then get back home at 6, and get ready, but I don't know. I would sometimes do random rep's of Push-up's and Sit-up's, I just don't know when & how much to do. On average I can do about 40 Push-up's before my arms start shaking. And about ~50-60 Sit-ups. I don't have access to a pool either, so I can't really swim :( Any advice welcome! Thanks.

Hello i am 14 years old, and lately i have been thinking about joining the service. My brother is in the Marines, so i guess thats why. However, i dont know if it is for me. I know that i still have quite a few years but i would just like some personal opinions. I am a girl, and i was wondering if it is really really hard for them. If you could please comment back i would be really grateful! Also, good luck! to everyone. Does anyone have any idea how i could help the soldiers over in Iraq? I would like to send them something nice if i could.

thanks
