The minimum requirements for officer status is to get either a Bachelors degree or above then go to Officer Candidate School for whatever military you choose. Like the others said it is good to join enlisted first because there are many who do give more respect because you have seen both sides of the fence. But going that route you will have to endure bootcamp first then also go to OCS. I personally wouldnt want to do that. Easy way is just get your Bachelors or above then go to OCS.

Batgirl you are a complete fraud !!!!! #1 there is no such thing as a direct appointment for a officer in the MP core i am calling you out as a complete fraud !! and i pray you get caught . i have read a few of your post on here and they are so wrong I don't know if your being a troll or what , but this one clearly has me upset . army regulation 351-5 requires a 4 year degree for ANY officer and direct commision requires a ADVANCE degree in a special field such as law, medicine or a Chaplin in all cases a direct appointment begins at the rank of 0-3 not a 1st lt so once again you are caught in a lie , might want to do some google before posting , I spent 22 years in the army and pride my self on knowing UCMJ and regulations better then most . and i can spot a fraud in a second

You need to go enlisted first. It is not an absolute requirement, but you'll get a lot more respect. Like the kind of respect you give to a guy who's played college ball vs a little leager. Enlist as an infantryman, wait till you get promoted to SGT and then there are many programs that you can become an officer in.

Attend College and get a Degree.
Perform well in your services and you may apply for OCS (Officer Candidate School).
Receive a Brevet Rank in the field. (Brevet Rank is when you are promoted in the field when their is little time to do it properly. Some times your Brevet Rank will remain, most of the time it will be removed once the 'conflict' is over)
