He said in part, "If you go to college and make an effort to be smart, you can do well in life. Otherwise, you get stuck in Iraq". If that isn't the same thing as calling our troops a bunch of dummies, then I don't know what is. And, don't tell me he didn't say it. I just heard a tape of it on the radio. This is one of the most despicable and downgrading statements I've ever heard a politican make! In addition to all this, he was in Vietnam. By that logic, doesn't that make him a dummy as well? I'd have to say that it does.

Consider what could be gained from doing this; sacrificing a few 100 people for unlimited control of the mightiest military force of all time ? Also look at :

Notice how the buildings look imploded ? If this is what happened, how can we sit and do nothing while a murderer sits in the white house ?

ever tell me about the things he saw in Iraq while he was a medic in the military (14 years of service). I think he saw some really terrible things over there - actually over his entire military career. He has nightmares about it but talks to me very little about it. Why won't he tell me about it? What should I do?
I just want him to be happy...

Bush and Rumsfeld are talking about the need for reinforcements, meanwhile they have rarely ever supported aiding our troops which have been begging since the war began for more weapons and vehicles.
Instead of more troops, more supplies could go a long way.
Many democratic senators such as Kerry have voted to support the troops more with the items they need to win the war in an effective manner. Republicans have not for the most part. This bewilders me.
It's time for our leaders to stop making empty claims.
Since our government claims to support the troops, shouldn't they back up their words through action?

My husband and I and our 8 month old daughter have to be at Fort Lewis, WA on the 19th of November. We don't have a whole lot of money to move on since he just got done with his training. We just found out he will be in in-proccessing for 10 days or more, and meanwhile, our daugther and I will have to stay alone in a hotel and try to find an apartment. Can we secure an apartment before we move there? I know we have to contact the housing authority at the base before any leases are signed, etc. But what would be the best option for us? It will be financially straining enough to pay the first month's rent plus deposit, and if we have to pay for a hotel for however long it takes us to find a place, it will end up being the amount we could have spent to move into an apartment! What should we do? Are we allowed to do this? We thought about getting a credit card, but we have a few small blemishes on our credit history that only allows us to have a small credit limit and it isn't worth it.

Hey, I am no fan of Kerry. Blast away, as far as I am concerned. But keep it true.
I have seen at least 20 comments about John Kerry putting down the troops in a recent speech. First, for most people with a poor education, the military offers one of the best solutions, IF they can pass the test. Once in, they are given specialized schooling to learn a trade. Given the nature of the military, most of these will become soldiers & end up in any war zone there is at the time.
That said, many of the best enlist from choice (my son & grandson) Nothing Kerry said contradicts any of this, and the statement, sadly, is true. The message is get a better education and expand your opportunities.
So many of you added to what was actually said. This is a favorite tactic of those whose position is shaky.
I've said my piece. Now, have at me.

Recent reports have indicated that many Iraq War Vets are hamstrung with growing debt that is highly correlated to their inability to earn enough to provide for loved ones, pay bills.

Many of these patriots are Reserve Troops that had homes with mortgages, car payments, etc that they were able to make on their regular civlian salaries.

Is the Govt obligated to assist these troops when they come home so that they dont come home to financial ruin?

This basically amounts to U.S. Civilians out of uniform taking up arms and fighting in Iraq. Yes, most were military at one time. I haven't seen any footage of them actually shooting anyone. There is one on YOU TUBE that's supposed to be them, but it's all focusing on the sniper so it could be fake.

I'd like to hear pros and cons of "Security" forces. It seems borderline mercenary and it's wrapped up in charges of war profiteering.

Pakistan maybe it's time for the US military to get itself out of the civil war mess that it helped start in Iraq and let US Special Forces & US intelligence do what they do best which is search & destroy terrorist cells located throughout the Middle East & the world? US Special Forces & US/Foreign intelligence have been responsible for 100% of all killed or captured Al Qaeda terrorists since 9/11 and most of that work was done outside Iraq.

The rest of the US military does not have a SINGLE confirmed Al Qaeda kill or capture in 3 years of fighting in Iraq. The US military does a good job killing insurgents but isn't the the whole point of the war on terror suppose to be to kill terrorists who can attack the US not insurgents who can't?

Pakistan under the leadership of President Musharraf is fighting the battle against Terrorism or one can say the battle of the survival of Pakistan in International Community. This war is against Islamic Extremism. Oct 30, 2006 incident in Bajour claimed 82 lives. Do you consider it a real war against terrorism?

We've all heard of the us military increasingly deploying high tech battlefield machines to fight their wars, eg Unmanned aerial vehicles and the fighting machine being tested in Iraq.
But hasnt someone pointed out that machines and computers are extremley easy to disable on a large scale, ECM's can divert incoming missles from aircraft, so wouldn't a potential enemy develop somthing similar to disable a hypothetical robo-army?
What do you think?

i think that we have no valid reason to be over there fighting. we are fighting a useless war and even more americans are dying after sept.11 because of nonsense. violence does'nt solve violence. i think america should call it quits and send our troops home. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION?
