He said in part, "If you go to college and make an effort to be smart, you can do well in life. Otherwise, you get stuck in Iraq". If that isn't the same thing as calling our troops a bunch of dummies, then I don't know what is. And, don't tell me he didn't say it. I just heard a tape of it on the radio. This is one of the most despicable and downgrading statements I've ever heard a politican make! In addition to all this, he was in Vietnam. By that logic, doesn't that make him a dummy as well? I'd have to say that it does.

John Kerry has been pulling this stunt for years. He jusmps back and forth on his stances to keep from offending people on both sides while at the same time making himself look bad. Just like his statement about he earned a bunch of medals during Vietnam, but he threw them back. The little know fact on that was that he actually just threw his ribbon rack back, not the medals. This way he would always have to medals to say "See I really do have them". He sets double standards for everything and then tries to play both of them for what he thinks could be an advantage. What he said was uncalled for and I do believe that he just stuck his foot deep down his throat on that one. People can take it how they want, but he did mean that if the American youth population is too dumb to get an education they end up in Iraq.

I agree that guy is an idiot. I served in the military over in iraq and what he did was just plain disrespectful to our men and women who have served and are serving. I sustained subsequent injurys while i served and i wouldnt think that if anybody especially kerry who has been injured would understand that you do it for the guy next to you. I dont agree with a couple of things george bush claims but i will tell you what, for the most part that guy does outstanding especially with the cards that were delt to him. Kerry should just shut his mouth he is a disgrace to america.

His own college education obviously didn't teach him common sense like how not to put ones foot in ones mouth and how not to insult military men who can still vote in the elections via absentee ballot.
My son chose to go directly into the Marines after graduating from high school. He is out on a ship right now and he is taking college courses while on the ship. He didn't join the Marines because of lack of intelligence; in fact, there are only 11 people who do his job on the ship and he is the youngest of them. They chose him because they said he was most likely to be able to retain the information they were teaching him.
I am very good at my job, but only a small fraction of what I learned in college is useful for my job. Most of my skill as a music teacher was learned through the experience of doing and from doing a lot of reading on my own.
I don't think it was a smart move on Phil Angelides part to let Kerry campaign on his behalf! He is already way behind Governor Schwarzenegger in the polls!

No, I don't think he is calling all soldiers dummies. I read it as though he was calling Bush a dummy for getting the US stuck in Iraq. We are stuck there for a while and everyone thought it was going to be a quick in and out.

I took his statement as if you couldn't afford to go to college or earn a scholarship the your other choice is to go in the military "get stuck in Iraq" in order to get an education. Bush is the one who got us "stuck" in the first place. The brave soldiers are just doing what they are told. Think about it would you go to your boss and tell him you didn't want to work today, doubt it, you do what is expected of you.

That doesn't explain all of the college educated officers and soldiers here. Hmmm...

Could someone PLEASE send a link to the transcipt of the conversation this quote came from. I am never one to damn anyone on a second hand quote...especially on here. There are some super Left-Wing Liberals on here that post garbage, and it would be nice to know for sure that this is a direct quote before I make a decision on it!

Is this really any surprise at all? The Demo party has been anti-military and anti-defense since the 1972 McGovern candidacy. Alluding to our soldiers as having a lack of intelligence is typical of the Demo's. But gee, who was it who protested the vote in Florida six years ago because their partisans were too stupid to figure out where/how to punch a hole in a ballot? Should people that dumb really be allowed to vote at all?
