After 9/11 President Bush said, "If you harbour a terrorist or sponsor a terrorist, you are a terrorist and we are coming after you. Everyone in this country agreed. Those critics said there was no reason for going into Iraq must have been asleep and in fact were. Saying Saddam was "contained" was an illusion. Saddam was paying for terrorist to go into Israel. He also harboured terrorist training camps. He terrorized the whole region and his own people. To not acknowledge Saddam as a terrorist is the fallacy of the critics.

I've tried to ask my brother this question, but he laughs if off as me just being 'hippy-trippy'. When you joined up, did you ever really think of the possibility of war? And if so, did you ever think of the consequences? War is inevitable and I know we need soldiers, and every one of you is so much braver than I could ever hope to be, but do you think you could come back from a battle, having killed one or one hundred men and be the same? Or do you think that even though you were back at home, with your same old house, and same old car, and same old partner, and same old grocery shop you would be changed in some fundamental way?

The August 31 deadline for Iran's nucleaer program termination has passed. The United nations doesn't seem to be too concerned. Or is it that nobody trusts the US govt anymore because of the so called "WMDs" that were suppsed to be in Iraq.

I think at this point, we must ask ourselves, can the war in Iraq be won? And if not, should we get out of an impossible situation?

As for my own views of the crisis, I believe yes, the war in Iraq can be won but only if we don't go in half assed and when we go in we show them we mean business. The first part is to do what needs to be done, we initiate the draft so up the man power from a measly 150000 to triple that number or more. We raise taxes to support the country. And we mobilize our industry to support the cause. If you were in WWII, this would sound very familiar.

The second portion is truly consider this a war and if massive killings are required, American determination will persevere.

So here's the question, is the American people willing to go this war and do this much? If yes, then your support of Bush is justified and although I disagree with you, I do admire you. But if no, then Bush's method will not work. Why won't you let us get out of a bad sit.?
