Yes it's a fairly new concept. It's called Warrior Week, and it last a week, obviously. They don't really learn infantry tactics per se. They learn what the environment is like, and simple concepts. AF basic training is only 8 weeks now I believe so there isn't a lot of time to do too much of that.

I dont think so. What would be the point. Infantry do the fighting on the ground, Aircrew do the fighting in the sky.

However the R.A.F do have a infantry of their own which are Known as the R.A.F. Regiment, But these men are not trained as Air Crew.

Likewise the Royal Marines are the Infantry fighting Unit of the Royal Navy, But they are not trained as Sailors.

Fighter Pilots will be taught the basic knowledge of firing weapons and the will have to pass numerous tests including E & E (Escape and Evasion) and Then will have to pass the resistance to interrogation test.

All service personel which are known as High Risk Prone To Capture Troops must pass these tests.

A list of prone to capture troops in the British Armed Forces

UKSF ( United Kingdom Special Forces ) ( SAS & SBS )
SFAC ( Special Frces Air Crew )
JFSOG ( Joint Forces Special Operations Group)
RMML ( Royal Marine Mountain Leader )
SORE ( Special Operations Reconnaisance Executive )
Fighter Pilots & Helicopter Pilots ( Royal Navy & Royal Air Force & AAC) (Army Air Corps)

There is a point. Not everyone in the Air Force is in the air. They do learn BASIC infantry skills. VERY VERY VERY BASIC. They qualify with the M16A2 rifle and go through warrior week, but they dont go through the School of Infantry like Marines or AIT for the Army.

I'd have to say no, as a Marine that was stationed on an Air Force base, they had no knowledge on how to insert the magazine into the M-16 when we invited a few to join use on a weapons shoot. It was funny to watch.

Curt is right. All US Airmen (m/f) are required to pass a proficiency test (marksmanship) as well as 8th week elementary infantry training.

That must be new. The closest I ever came was the obstacle course. I never even shot a gun.
