better than the other?

I am talking about the upgraded version of the Cobra. It is not the same one that was designed in the '60's.

The Super Cobra and the Apache D have different capabilities. The Super Cobra is still good for supporting troops and armored divisions. The Apache D is a general warhorse unto itself, or at least that is how they are trying to pitch the more expensive helicopter. In truth, both can be shot down by ground fire or crash into a tree at 120 mph. Sand really chews up both helicopters.

Both helicopters can launch laser guided missles and rockets. Both have thermal targeting devices and have what you see is what you can kill machine guns (they move the gun by the gunner moving his helmet and lines the gun up with his eye piece).

The Apache D extras: With its radar it can immediately classify 120 targets at any one time into tanks, wheeled vehicals, surface to air systems (with radars), jets, helicopters, and buildings. It can then section up the battlefield into grids, declare areas as no fire zones, pass sections off to other helicopters and artillary systems such as the copperhead laser guided artillary system and jets (again with laser guided missles). These grids are further broken down automatically by threat (surface to air missle systems get hit first) or by individual selection (with the radar missles, you can shoot one missle and it will automatically lock onto another target for the next missle so you can just keep pulling the trigger without manually locking onto targets). All of this can be done behind a hill, building or row of trees from about 8 km away except for the first sweep of the radar mounted on the mast. Now Apaches without the mast are all supposadly Apache Cs now (they have been retrofited from Apache As, with Apache Bs being slight modifications of Apache As during service in Gulf War 1) and still can be fed info from the Apache D. After the missles have been launched the apache D can then expose it's mast to give the radar controled Hellfires (called longbow missles) real time feed. Each Apache can carry 16 radar guided hellfire missles. The radar will show confirmed hits. The whole process can take under 3 minutes from first scan to final kill. It can expose the whole aircraft to laser guided launched from aircraft, its own laser guided missles and for laser guided artillary shells. They have recently modified the Apache to carry air to air to air missles and although shooting down a MIG is possible, Hinds and other enemy helicopters are the true targets for these missles.

Now which helicopter is now better used in Iraq and Afganistan? It's probably the Super Cobra since they are cheaper and the enemy doesn't have anything for the Apache D radar to lock onto.

The Apache D is better suited for reducing enemy armor, supply depots and vehicals, artillary, helicopters, surface to air missle systems and bunkers into junk fairly quickly so the armored infantry can later grab large swaths of land with minimum resistance and in all weather or time.

Uh, the Apache chopper dates back to the early 80s. The Cobra dates to the mid 60s. Even with all the upgrades, you tell me which one is better.
