I don't believe that for a minute. But I do know that I wish I could enlist but they tell me I'm too old.

I do not think that people think so abaout this issue. Most people know that air force pilots have to maintain their physicall shape and skills constantly. Your body has to get used to G forces in effect and one has to fly regularly to keep being used to it. The same force mentioned before is a main reason why pilots at relatively young age are not allowed to fly jets but fly civil airplanes or "dog s...t out of Honk Kong" - Top Gun.

Because it's called the air force, get it?

A force in the air.

How do you get into the air?

By flying.

Ps:- what's the point of being in the air force if you don't get to zoom around at high speeds in ridiculously expensive aircraft shooting missiles and dropping bombs on impoverished farmers?

Most people assume that is part of your job description as it is the name of your job title.

I am sure the entire air force can't all be flying, there are probably alot of other positions.

It's still a cool thing to be involved with and whether you fly or not I'm really thankful of what you have chosen to do with your life.

Because of your job and other branches of our armed forces we are able to maintain our freedom and priveledges as american citizens.

Thanks !

I agree I was a 42652 Jet Engine Mechanic on the C-5 stationed at Travis from 80 - 83. Everyone still asks which plane I flew.

what makes you think EVERYONE thinks that? the air force is a military branch like any other and has a variety of jobs that need to be performed. for that matter, people in the USMC, army, navy, and coastguard, fly too.

it actually relies upon on the place you're stationed. you should walk a placed up, experience on patrol, guy a gate/get entry to administration element, convoy escort, and you should additionally be tasked with janatorial responsibilities. risk-free practices is exciting and uninteresting. Get in good actual situation now, and attempt to develop. thank you for figuring out on risk-free practices. i became an Air stress Cop.

Your not a pilot? Its just an assumption people make. Just like everyone in the Navy isn't on a ship or submarine and everyone in the Marines and Army aren't in infantry or driving a tank.

The airforce has the greatest percentage of support troops of any of the branches. It's something like 95% or more support and 5% or less flyboys.
