ok, so i get this M-1 (pot) helmet that had a woodland cover on it so it looked like it was from the vietnam era, right. i take off the cover and it has 1-35 on the front and back, and on the sides it has scotch tape in the shape of a cross (medic?). i just want to no what it means.

1st Bn, 35th Infantry , tape could have been just a local designation and not a medic

If it was a steel pot with an 1-35 it could mean 1st of the 35th Infantry. As for the scotch tape in the shape of a cross, unless it has a circle with a red cross or simply a red cross painted on it to signify a medic. A Christian padre might have a small cross on the front. A rabbi would have the small six-sided star. But most of them would not have been in scotch tape.

No idea what an uncolored plain scotch tape cross would mean. Could have been something the unit (1/35) did.

Probably a Marine Unit. 1 Could be the Regiment and the 35 the Battalion...something like that. Scotch tape, dunno...lotsa helmets were personalized.
