Selective Service System or, as commonly refered to, the Draft.

I am a Vet, served voluntarily from 1967 to 1971. And Proud to have served at a time when it was "frowned upon."

Are you aware of this? shot and killed one day. Buried in 5 days. News for one day in the newspapers. Then forgotten forever. Turn on the T.V. It's time for MTV.

my question was ,how many times has a smaller islamic army defeated a larger non muslim army?not one of you mentioned the most storied battle in islamic history hands down.the battle of badr saw the muslims face a pagan army of 3000+ while they soundly defeated them with only 300.. yes 300 fighters.here is a verse from the Quran about it..and it was said to them[the prophet and his companions]there has amassed a great army to fight you so fear them, but it only increased them in faith and they said enough is Allah as a disposer of our affairs.this is the reason why the iraq, afghanistan, the new middle east..campaigns are doomed.increasingly the americans can not connect this to their reasoning and understanding.

Go ahead, get offended by my question, I can take it. I would just like a good solid reason why we are still there....and allowing more loss of allied troops' lives. For what? Don't give me the reason "until the job is done". That is NOT a reasonable reason. My belief is that we have gone this far now, it would be an embarassment to the U.S. gonvernment to turn back now.

Also, I DID support the war in the beginning when I thought there were WMD (which we know now is a lie). I voted for Bush, and I support many of his programs. But come one, we have lost over 2,500 troops now, and I don't think anyone can come up with a single reason why they were sent over there to die now (yeah, after the fact).

I feel so bad for the families that had to lose their beloved sons and daughters in this war for what???? The soldiers are NOT at fault here, so don't you even dare start pulling that guilt trip on me.

Convince me otherwise, I have an open mind.....

I'm in the Air National guard and was prior service AD Air Force (12yrs) I was wondering since I have a long tech school (14 weeks) if I'd get BAH and BAS, I know I'll get family sep (married with 2 boys). Just a thought. Someone told me I would but that seems a little strange.

what I have been able to put togethor is since the cold war, china has been stealing Americas military designs. can china do anything on their own or do they have a reputation of stealing. do you think that a nation that steals other peoples designs have a chance of winning a war against the actual creaters? and just for starters. America had made the most powerful nuclear weapon, and coincidentally, the chinese devolups the same weapon a few months later. that is partly proof that they steal designs, they are not a strong nation. they are thieves. do you think they would actually win a war against the true creaters? why of why not?

My Grandfather was awarded a Croix De Guerre in WWI. I have been able to find out how he won other medals but nothing about this one. I know it is a French decoration and I have heard that they were 'passed down with the rations'. He was a Hussar. Does anyone know where I could look for information? Thank you.

There are no "rules of war." No safe houses in war zones. Could there be an underlying spheres vengeance that causes the randomness of destruction and statistically high "friendly fire" fatalities, as well as the scathing lack of military strategy? Is this today's phase of Israeli/Muslim warfare out of the hands of trained military? Please serious answers would be appreciated.
