I am a veteran of the Army myself. There is not a day that goes by that I do not thank my fellow comrades for what they continue to do. I do want to say shame on those who posted negatively, they may not agree with the war, but they enjoy the freedom of speech that is entitled to them!
I also would like to thank the military spouses and families. Without them, this would not be possible. My husband and my children were my strength when I was away from them because of the support they gave to me. They say the hardest job in the mililtary is being the spouse. At first, I didn't understand that, but after serving, I do now. Thanks to the vets of past and present wars, and thanks to the ones who are still serving on active duty and those who are subject to being called to active duty.

I am not American as you see but I really get sad when our state-owned mass media ( esp. TV ) celebrate the demise of the brave US soldiers in Iraq or elsewhere. About many parts of the world I don't know the details but at least about Iraq I know that the people have been under the harsh dictatorship by two groups for many many years. The first group were their brutal governments who did not let them TALK. The second group have been shiite ayatollahs and religious leaders who did not/ do not let them THINK. US soldiers were able to get them rid of the first factor but no one can help them get rid of the second factor in a short period of time. In Shiite practice you have to be a "moghalled" of a grand ayatollah(literally meaning "imitator" but in fact it means a follower who doesn't think and only obeys the rulings of the ayatollahs) .

I sent a message to your troops who are leaving their families, free country, all the worldly belongings and welfare just to help the people in other part of the world who mentally live in Dark Ages . By the way it is very sad to see that these brave people are sometimes unjustly criticised even by your own people for the sacrifice and great job they are doing.

God bless US soldies!
And thank you to have introduced the site.

I think that there should be more people who take the four years to help supprot our country. There are to many people who take the freedom they have and think of it as nothing. if someone were to take the time to relize what they have not what they dont have. In other words Count your Blessings! Im a retired vetrens Daughter and Granddaughter and Niece so I appreciate the Blessings I have!

Proud to be an American, Proud to have served my country, but I'm even prouder that there are still people in this country, and out side it, that appreciate the sacrafices the men and women in uniform have made for the cause of Liberty, thank you from an old GI, you've renewed my faith in the American public.

I wasn't going to comment till I read Iranian's post.
Now I wish to thank the liberators of the free thinkers. Well done USA - citizens, support your soldiers!

Luke.

ps I couldn't use the "Thank the soldier" link as I'm not a US citizen.

I have two sons in the Army, one served in Iraq, and I do thank them everyday. I thank you for this great question. As a postscript, I believe all of the young men that are not for whatever reason serving their country should also.

I know there are all kinds of good charities but I only give to the disabled veterans. Our vets and those currently serving deserve our gratitude and praise. They sacrifice so much to serve us and our country.
