Since the composition of S.A.S. is classified info. and the Brits really know how to keep info. classified a N.C.O. of his service record(If he was with S.A.S. he must have had a good record,I mean a good record) I can offer the idea that it was a little bit of pride in his own country and some misinformation and something for the movie camera.

There is a good chance that they are. Unemployment is still a problem in Scotland and the army does attract many young people in Scotland. Scottish regiments have a great and proud reputation and must be a superb recruiting station for the SAS.

I do not believe the statement "70% of the SAS are Scottish". I think this is a sentimental rumour based on the fact that Sterling (the SAS founder) was himself, Scottish.

Sorry the only SAS I know is a huge software company. The Scottish wish 70% of them worked for SAS. They pay better than almost any company that I know.

Yes becuase Scotland is (was) home to The Royal Scots regiment, the best in the UK and maybe even the world.

This means Scotland produces top class soilders, tough enough to make it into the SAS.

And Scottish people are nuts, which always helps!

I can not tell you the percentage, but I worked 2 times with the Special Air Services in joint exercises with my Special Forces Team. There were Scots, but a few lads also from Wales..

Great Organization.
