My uncle was in the united states army and he told me some stuff about how he got in and all that crap. When he was signing up, the guy asked him questions like,
"have you ever been convicted of felony"
or
"have you ever had a heart attack or stroke"

Well, ill get to the point. The guy asked him if he was a homosexual, why does the united states army need to know if your homosexual?

It seems that the notion of a "god" is the only thing that brings out the worst of all people. Let's replace any notion of a "god" with this symbol: $. That is the real controller of humans. Animals fight for life yet don't recognize "$" as their reason for living like most of us do. I only hope some alien beings come and show the world how far our heads are up our asses and then leave for us to fend for ourselves again.

The world is sick of America's military being all over the world but yet they do nothing. Israel and Lebanon want peacekeepers on the ground in order for a cease-fire to happen but the European's are to scared to join the peacekeeping force. They want things to happen there way but when it comes to force they won't do it even when necessary. In this case it is not even force they will have to use. If the world does not want us to be the police for society then the rest of the world needs to step up or shut up. The rest of the world is to chicken to actually do something so we have to do the dirty work for them. My question is why is the United States hated when the rest of the world will not react and help end this war? How come the Arab world won't go after Europe for the lack of help? It is time for the rest of the world to step up and take some responsibilty and help the United States police everyone. How do you like them apples?

My dad has been really pushing me hard to join either the airforce or army. But I don't want to. After having a huge fight I calm down and think to myself, why I am so strongly against joining either of them.

My dad says that both of them have excellent benefits, they help you buy a house and that you can retire early. He says that after working for so many years ( not in the army or airforce), that he has lots of experience, has seen lots of different jobs and the stress associated with them and is telling us out of experience that its an excellent opportunity. He is 57 years old and says that he would have joined happily if he was eligible to join.

I say, that I would never want to be in a contract with the army or airforce, that its not worth it, especially with the wars going on. My dad says that there is no reason to think that I might be directly involved in a war, and that there would never be a situation where I could be injured or hurt.

I love how Tim O'Brien writes about Vietnam, especially in "The Things They Carried". Are there any similar authors for any books about Desert Storm?

Otherwise, I'm not looking for a reference book on the Desert Storm, but more of a fictional/novel-like approach.

My grandfather served in WW2 with the Army air corps. He told my dad that he was going to share his stories about the war, but was unable to do so due to a stroke. I do know that he served in the South Pacific. Austrilla and somewhere eles. I want to find some of the people her served with and maybe get some records. Or even possibly chat with some men who served with the Army Air corps.

You know, like those countries who elevate their militaries to Godlike status and warship the totalitarian leader?
Or how about H\having the military go through manuevers on the streets of DC for the world to see?
Its already the Might is Right/ Your wih us or against us mentality so whats next?
What an exciting time in America. If you travel to anywhere but England or Israel tell people you are Canadian, its safer for you, because those are the only countries that think were doing a good job... LOL

Mostly I'm refering to the Air Force but this question is applicable to a branches. I've heard from various people that the best officers come out of ROTC. I've heard that the service looks upon military academy grads as great followers, but not great leaders because they were told exactly what to do for four years and really didn't experience the type of college life that makes you think and grow as an individual, so in other words, they can't really think as well. And lastly I've heard that OTS produces questionable officers because their training is so short. Just wondered what you thought and what might be the best path for me to pursue for my own interests. Thanks!
