They don't ask that any more, however this question reminds me of a quote from the movie "Stripes"
Recuiter: "Have you ever commited a homosexual act or had a homosexual relationship"
Bill Murrey: "No Sgt, but we are willing to learn"

The Marines are a rapid response tactical drive. They are very well at that. The Army is slightly little bit of the whole lot (and sure the Army has watercraft too, extra then the Navy honestly to proper a million reply). The Army has a longer term awareness that spans tactical, operational and strategic. For illustration, in World War II, the Marines attacked the island and fought to a targeted factor on so much islands, then the Army might take over, transparent the island, rebuild the island, then flip the island again over to the federal government of the island. Today a lot the identical factor occurs, the Marines reply to a crisis and does crisis remedy (probably approximately a million month), then the Army takes over for restoration and transition (can take over a 12 months). So its now not fairly who's high-quality, however you might say who's high-quality at unique matters over the opposite.

At one point in time (before the Clinton era), homosexuals were not allowed into the military. Then along came Clinton, and he passed the "Don't ask, don't tell" rule. This means that the military can't ask you if you are a homosexual, but neither are you allowed to say that you are. If you volunteer the information, you will not be allowed to enlist. If you enlist, and then are caught in a compromising act, or state that you are homosexual, then you are dishonorably discharged.

Your uncle apparently joined the military quite some time ago. They no longer ask the question "Are you homosexual?" They do allude to the question (At least in my experience) by saying things like, "We aren't allowed to ask you whether you are homosexual" and the like but they don't ask the question per se.

The Army has a new special forces unit called the "Pink Berets". They're one of the most feared units, being captured by the "PBs" is every enemy soldier's worst nightmare.
Seriously though, they shouldn't be asking about sexual preference. Don't ask, don't tell.

Officially, none of the armed forces branches accept homosexuals to be recruited.
Unofficially, they use the "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy. If you lie and don't tell anybody, they won't ask you if they're suspicious.
They kind of keep the issue of you sexuality "under the rug", if you will.

I don't think they ask that question anymore. Don't ask don't tell policy. Although I think if they find out you are homsexual you get discharged, I think it's against the policy in the military.
