my husband is enlisting in the army. he says it's the best thing he can do for his family and for his country. i can't argue with that, but secretly i have reservations. i'm scared for his safety. i'm scared that our 11 month old child will miss out on having a father in his life when my husband is serving overseas. i'm scared we will get stationed somewhere far from my family and i'll be all alone, not knowing anyone. how is life living in military housing? are other military wives really as supportive as everyone says? are the rewards worth the risks and sacrifises of being a military family? can some of you with experience answer some of the questions and set my mind at ease. don't get me wrong, i am proud of my husband for stepping up and serving this country and outwardly i will be strong for him and my son. but...inwardly i'm just a little nervouse

Why is it that people don't stop and tell a soldier hello, or how you doing. I think there should be a law that criminalizes these actions if you don't. soldiers risk their lives each and everyday for you. what do you think

To get an idea of Military spending worldwide, according to the CIA factbook, most third world countries spend between 5-10 Billion on their military, this includes Canada, Mexico, Brazil, etc. Secondary world powers are apt to spend in the mid double digits in billions (20-50), that included France, Germany and England, etc. The next closet are China and Russia who spend in the high double digits (60-100) in billions. How much does the US spend, mid TRIPLE digits, yes, over $400 BILLION, that's more than the majority of other countries COMBINED! And if you're wondering NO, that does not included war expenditures. If you factor in the cost of the war, we are upwards of $500 Billion dollars a year! Is this just me or does anyone else question where are this money is going to? Not to the soldiers, I know for a fact they don't get paid much. Anyone have any answers? No wonder we're in a deficit.

Do us all a favor and shut up! There are men and women putting their lives on the line for you! Please support them, If you don't have the courage to join the military then you have no right to badmouth them and what they are doing! I know this is not a question, but a statement. I'm a retired Marine and I'm tired of hearing people bash our troops. Does anyone agree? And to my comrades in arms, Thank you. You are in my prayers, come home safe. Semper Fi

M24's and M25's need added scope and RIS rails put on for scopes, M82's have a built on RIS. plus M24's and M25's have far less range than the M82A1 and they are in smaller supply. I'm confused.

http://throwingstardna.livejournal.com/870887.html :

What was so striking about today's airstrikes was that they targeted roads north of Beirut, a Christian-dominated area that is far outside Hezbollah's territory. There is no way that these roads can be described as Hezbollah's highways.

One possible aim of the Israelis, in bombing Lebanon's Christian population, might have been to drive a wedge between them and Hezbollah, to make them angry at the group, but if that was the goal, it has backfired. Everyone we spoke to was furious: there was the feeling that rather than striking at Hezbollah, Israel has broadened its war to strike at Lebanon in general.

Israeli aircraft blasted main roadways north of Beirut for the first time in the three-week conflict on Friday, knocking out four key bridges. The attacks severed the last major overland route for relief supplies into Lebanon, international aid agencies told The Associated Press on Friday.

Just wondering. US support of Israel brings the US nothing but grief from Middle Eastern countries.

Peace between Palestine and Israel will never be attained through the use of force. Decades of war and bloodshed has made this abundantly clear (at least to those of us who aren't fighting in this futile conflict)
.
So why should the US dirty its hands supporting one side or the other? We are already unpopular enough. If Israel and Palestine want to kill one another in the name of god (or holy cities, take your pick), why should we further alienate the Arab world by taking sides?

World War II, nobody warned citizens about bombing raids. Now adays they tell the enemy when, where, and how they are going to bomb. They even give people time to get out of the area. When did all that crap begin, what ever happened to the old ways of war...Don't tell me we are more civilized now, thats a crock...

When the United States wanted to invade Iraq I remember a strong response from the international community and the decision to invade was at least debated and had to be justifed with the premise of Iraq having weapons of mass destruction. In the case of Isreal and Lebanon it seem like war just happened on a whim and no one in the international community has responded as strongly to Isreals invasion of Lebanon as with the US invasion of Iraq. What's going on?
