On several questions I have seen posts concerning how American's get their historical view of how America won WWII, saved Europe, England... defeated Germany... Some answers say these beliefs are from Hollywood making movies portraying Americans in the Savior role, even having movies made that show the US in battles that they were not in.

My question is: What movies, that are stated as historical (vs. a story like Saving Private Ryan, that just happens to be set in WWII) concerning which battles, did Hollywood make that would make others think that Americans get their view from Hollywood vs. a history book?

I've read history books, I've talked to WWII Veterans, and I've seen WWII movies. Movies are entertainment, not history. Some are historical, but its still a story.

I see the 'accusations' but I never see a reference. Anyone have one? I'm not saying there are or are not any, I'm just curious.

You can tell me I'm wrong but there is an unprecedented amount of anger towards Israel regarding their sheer arrogance and heavy handed-ness towards civilians.

lets put it this way. I wouldn't like to have been a Jew walking through central London yesterday. They treat any other middle eastern race as if they are sub human and it's a disgrace. I've just watched George galloway on Sky news and he made Jews look like barbarians which is what they are.

Israel, whose security is a lot tighter than that in the USA, has already experienced suicide bombers blowing themselves and everyone else up in the name of Allah.

How long before the first suicide bomber blows himaelf (or herself) up in Times Square ?

Prior to 9/11 many US citizens and politicians confidently predicted that there would never be a large-scale terrorist attack on US soil, and that the biggest danger was to troops stationed abroad. Oh, how wrong they were.

Most critics say he was defeated because he attacked to late the morning of Waterloo (11am), whereas he won at Austerlitz because he started the battle at seven in the morning. Why is this reproach nonsensical?

For the non-Singaporean, Singapore has a mandatory 2-yr military service that applies to all 18-year-old, able-bodied males.
A "white horse" platoon is a colloqial term used to describe a platoon that has a son of a minister or high-ranking military officer in it. Such platoons are rumoured to be given preferential treatment. And I wanna know the truth.

Think "Apocolypse Now" and the scene with Robert Duvall.

I think I would prefer Guns N' Roses', "Your're Crazy."

In all the talk about the Israel-Lebanon war going on right now, I haven't seen anything about what the various factions within Lebanon think.
(for those who dont know, Lebanon is about evenly divided between Christians and Muslims. for years the two fought each other in a bitter civil war)
I'd imagine the Christian Lebanese are not particularly pleased with Hezbollah for getting their country into this mess. On the other hand, they can't appreciate the bombing and killing and destruction that Israel has brought upon their country (even if the main bombing targets are Hezbollah operations centers in Muslim neighborhoods, I'm assuming that many Christian Lebanese have been casualties of this war as well, no?)

We did not loose..America has never lost a war..

America started out by just aiding S. Nam (Giving them Weapons and Supplies), but then things started to escalate and we started getting pulled into a war that we didnt want to enter..

We NEVER lost a SINGLE battle in Nam, and for every 1 American that died, 20 Communist died, If you go through a war not loosing a battle and killing 20 times as many enemies than your troops i concider that a great victory..

The ONLY reason we left is because the Democrats (Using the Media) made it looks like we were loosing very badly. Even though it wasnt our fight we were still kicking @ss and wouldnt and left if it wasnt for the Democrats brainwashing American Citizens into thinking that we were getting slaughtered. W/ It not being our fight and w/ most of America thinking we were loosing, we pulled out of a war that we never wanted to be appart of in the first place..

Does killing 20x more men than your loosing, and never loosing a battle and ONLY having to leave because your country doesnt think its their fight sound like a loss to you? It doesnt to me

Considering the events of the past 60 years is there anyone who would question our strategy during the hostile years leading up to the declaration of war against our current allies Germany and Japan???

How interesting is the fact that our most hostile enemies could have been destroyed had we removed ourselves from the conflict? Who are our hostile enemies? (Russia and China)

Polls say that most Americans don't think things are going well in Iraq. In a CNN survey released on Friday, 36 percent approved of Bush's management of the war and 62 percent disapproved of the war.

More than 2,588 U.S. troops have died in a conflict that has cost more than $300 billion since the March, 2003, U.S.-led invasion. Because of the sectarian violence, the Pentagon is boosting U.S. forces in Baghdad by about 5,000 and earlier hopes for a big troop cut in coming months have faded. As most people in the military now know the war is not as easy as some believed 3 years ago. Many fear this will end up like another Vietnam and it now looks as if it is going that way. It looks like the Republicans will go down in defeat this Nov.
