First off...are you a British citizen ? Yup ! The Salvation Army is base in jolly old England. America has laid claime to " The Sally " and her fight to end homelessness. That's why there are no weapons but if the truth were ever totally revealed about the Salvation Army , then there might be some blood shed. Every body believes than they can secure there place in heaven by giving to yhe Salvation Army ( which has promised to help a poor family in need). The Santa Claus in front of the department store at Christmas is a man with a heart as big as Texas because he so freely volunteers his time to help the homeless, To donate a used car or furniture will mean that a poor persons burden will be eased and that we should be proud of The Salvation Army , because ' it;s America taking care of her own ". My own personal experience with the good folks at The Sally willgive you a more accurate picture of these "good Americans". First , as I've said , The Salvation Army was founded in England ( unsure of the exact year ) and is now controlled by a billion dollar corporation in London. While it is true that "Sallies" are all over this country , you can be sure that a large part of the monies raised in America...by Americans...for Americans , will actually benefit some bloke in England. Now , don't get me wrong. Americans do benefit from your generousity but those fortunate individuals are usually paid employees. You see , a director of a facility and I'll use Houston texas because of my familiarity with this haven for the homeless. " Harbor Lights " , is it's claim to fame. I use " fame " because of it's choir. All homeless men with a talent for song and when they sing...you feel it !World wide sales of their cd's would make any record producer proud. Unfortunately , the "Don King-like" , contracts will not benefit any of it's singers. The facility director receives and annual salary of $60 - $75,000.00. Both he and his wife will drive new automobiles that are traded in yearly. their insurance , along with health coverage for their children , a place of residence , furnishings , clothing , groceries , utilities , private tutoring for the children and any number of whimsicle fantasies they may request. These are all additions to the monitary compensation which requires less facility hours that an average teacher. With vacation pay , credit card bills covered by generous donors and the perks associated ( dinner with the mayor , congresspersons and dignitaries) , this is an enveyable position. Then there is the bonuses paid as a result of the choirs efforts. The more they travel and sing...the larger the bonus. The guy's get to move and shake a bit , although there is no compensation ( or very little ) for the long hours and the stars of the show receive less than stellar accomodations as opposed to the five star treatment afforded to the director and his family. There is one other addition to the salary package of these directors. Another bonus is paid based on how far under budget the facility is kept. How can they keep a homeless shelter under budget ? The very things that peoples hearts give to help these unfortunate tennants of the homeless shelter. Soap ( a bar of soap is quartered , towels are torn in half and showers are limited to four (4) minutes. The rampage created by this pressure , results in personal clothing becomming lost and any remaining articles are dripping wet. A person may have had a warm and dry ( although dirty ) sleeping bar on the street but now is forced to sleep in an air conditioned ( below average cool setting to reduce the spread of air born germs) room , with wet clothing and a partially dried body. The evening meal could consist of a peanut butter & jelly sandwich and a glass of kool-aide. Toilet paper is not available unless requested and there is a lengthly proceedure which must be followed to achieve success. The measured issuance will be no more than four (4) squares. This is usually from a single ply roll and you can imagine the difficulty involved. At 5:00(am) , wake up begins and within 19 minutes you are forced to wake, wash, remove bedclothing (stand in line to return these items and retreive personal identification/driver license),return bed clothing , eat breakfast ( possible consisting of powdered eggs, a half slice of bread and powdered milk) and vacate the premises to avoid being banned from attempting to procure shelter that evening. The cost for this level of hospitality at the salvation army is $4.00 ! You heard correctly. There is a fee for staying a few hours at the Salvation Army. Kind of makes you wonder where all of the money goes and if the actually do carry guns , Huh ?

The Salvation Army is an effective Christian organization armed with the powerful weaponry of God.

The Hezbollah is an ineffective terrorist organization armed with antiquated weapons of man.

Are you serious? In case you are and not a clown, it is the difference in the mission goals of the organizations. Hezbollah's goal is the destruction of Israel, and the Salvation army's goal is to help people in need.

Uh...Salvation "Army" is just a metaphor...they are armed with clothing and other things for those in need, not weapons to kill those in need.
