The leader of the military in the face of an ethical question could consider himself as truly responsible for all actions of his men and therefore accept the punishment for his soldiers. If a leader can conclude that his men are subject to punishment he must conclude the ultimate punishment bears upon his shoulders.

NO, absolutely NOT, it is politicians who are responsible for sending military men and women into battle. Islamo-facism is directly responsible for all deaths in the War on Terror and Islamo-facism.
If the so-called "rules of engagement" are not followed by the enemy, our troops should not be requied to follow them either. This crap about holding our troops to "a higher standard" is total nonsense. It gets soldiers KILLED. Our politicians are always spewing about "leveling the playing field", it is time to do it. Actions, not words.

If America allows our troops to be KILLED by our own government for fighting for America and for doing their duty, America is doomed. Our politicians are corrupt, look at Kerry, it was reported that he shot a Vietnamese, who was running away from Kerry's position, in the back. Kerry walks free. The vietnamese was an enemy.... so are Islamo-facists....

No! They are in a war zone, and the enemy has shown that it will use any means necessary to fight - even strap women and children with explosives. I say, it is better for our soldiers to be safe rather than sorry!

Someone using the handle "erudite" should not be asking a question like this.

I suggest you either step up the acumen of your inquiries or stop using the moniker you presently use.
