http://throwingstardna.livejournal.com/870887.html :
What was so striking about today's airstrikes was that they targeted roads north of Beirut, a Christian-dominated area that is far outside Hezbollah's territory. There is no way that these roads can be described as Hezbollah's highways.
One possible aim of the Israelis, in bombing Lebanon's Christian population, might have been to drive a wedge between them and Hezbollah, to make them angry at the group, but if that was the goal, it has backfired. Everyone we spoke to was furious: there was the feeling that rather than striking at Hezbollah, Israel has broadened its war to strike at Lebanon in general.
Israeli aircraft blasted main roadways north of Beirut for the first time in the three-week conflict on Friday, knocking out four key bridges. The attacks severed the last major overland route for relief supplies into Lebanon, international aid agencies told The Associated Press on Friday.

As of today, Israel has killed 644 Lebanese (only a few dozen of which are Lebanese military or Hezbollah fighters), and there have been 68 Israeli deaths (41 of whom were soldiers).
So aside from the fact that the Israelis are killing far more people total, it's sad to note that Hezbollah, firing inaccurate rockets, has killed far more soldiers than civilians. Meanwhile Israel, using precision-guided weaponry, is killing far more civilians than soldiers.

I have spent alot of time answering questions as to why I feel Israel cannot defeat Hezbollah, so I'm gonna keep this one short and comprehensive.
TECHNOLOGY
First of all, The Israeli's may have smart bombs but there is a limit to what a smart bomb can target.
A typical laser guided bomb needs to be directed to hit a target by a laser target designator either carried by a troop or on the fighter itself. Normally, Israeli F-15's and F-16's can only target vehicles, buildings and launching platforms with laser guided bombs which are typicaly sighted by the plane itself not a trooper.
The problem with Hezbollah's mobile launching platforms is that they fire every single rocket BLINDLY.
Israel is forced to take each launcher out using a dumb bomb carpet bombing technique since they cannot tell which platform will fire next. Instead, they bomb everything and kill everything up to 30 meters away from target if possible.
Furthermore, tanks, artillery and soldiers are barely more accurate than air strikes. They are a BROADSWORD rather than a SCALPEL. That is why you see them targeting Lebanon's infrastructure rather than hitting Hezbollah strongholds.
Collateral damage is likely to be higher whenever you use ground troops rather than air strikes for this very reason.
To quote Sam Kinison:
"The Arabs fire rockets out of their backyards and then run into the house to turn on CNN and find out where it landed".
This really is true because all Hezbollah is doing is firing Katyusha rockets blindly up to 10-13 miles not caring who they hit or how many Israelis they hit. A definate terror method if there ever was one.
HEZBOLLAH'S CHEATING.
It is widely known that Hezbollah hides among the UN as well as Lebanon civilians in much the same way insurgents hide among civilian Iraqi's and simply pop out to cause geurrilla style destruction.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1673260/posts
This is why Israel likely hit the UN post 3 times with guided bombs.
Also consider the fact that Israel reported that Hezbollah used UN marked ambulances to sneek into Israeli lines and kidnap Jewish soldiers.
Of course conspiracy theories will quickly claim that is untrue and that Israeli soldiers were never kidnapped.
Many of those conspiracy theorists also doubt Hezbollah is really using rockets though.
CLEANUP?
Is it at all possible that Israeli is doing all this collateral damage to Lebanon so they will be charged with the cleanup and economic recovery? America did similar things in Yugoslavia (bombing TV towers) as well as Iraq (destroying infrastructure) t justify occupying the place.
Perhaps Israel is taking this chance to destroy Lebanon so they can go in later to clean it up and further weed out Hezbollah as well as policing the Labanese civilians.
I sincerely doubt Israel is driving a wedge between Lebanon and Hezbollah. I believe that Israel's attacks are only strengthening the resolve of the Arabs united by Islamic fundamentalism to fight to the end. More importantly, this conflict is haistening Iran to complete the nuclear reactor in Bushehr.
I don't feel Israel is bothered to be striking Lebanese civilians because it sees Lebanon as a supporter of HEzbollah and more importantly an ENABLER.

Hezbollah infiltrated Israel, shot at a humvee which led to it to explode and then abducted 2 Israeli squaddies who have been in simple terms patrolling the border in that humvee. additionally, 3 squaddies have been killed and a couple of have been injured. one extra 5 have been killed whilst they tried to rescue the abducted soldier presently after it occured. How became into Israel to respond to that, deliver Hezbollah some vegetation and a container of chocolate? of direction Israel had a nicely suited to apply armed forces stress, 2 Israelies have been abducted with the aid of a Revolutionary Organization 17 November and held for ransom for crying out loud!

2U23L,
It makes you wonder what
really were Israel's intentions
from the get go, doesn't it.
Great tactical warfare, and
Hezbollah right there to use
as what, an excuse.
Too much does not add up
here.
And sadly, Innocent people die,
Innocent lives are destroyed,
and a Country that was rebuilding
itself from the last onslaught, is once
again in ruins,
I'm truly having a hard time
accepting the Israeli's reasons
this time around.
Thanks for your facts.
Be well!

In the Qur'an, the end of the world will come about when there are no more good Muslims. In order for that to happen, it describes a massive war: the world against the Muslims. Not surprisingly, the war will be lead by the 'children of israel' under a man the Qur'an refers to as djergal. he will mislead everyone at first and people will love and revere him and will not see their mistake until it is too late. When the war is over, the israeli's will have won and everyone that allied themselves with israeli's will be devasated at the criminal country that is israel. By then they will see their mistake and they will notice that the children of israel do not care for anyone but themselves as israel would have betrayed its allies many times. Just like today, no on can say anything against israel. Not even the U.S. After the victory of the war, the world will be destroyed and the criminal israelis will be killed in the most terrible of ways and then there will be the resurrection and the jugement.
In the Bible, under the "resurrection" part, there will be a massive war as well. Lead by, not surprisingly, an israeli guy from israel. this man is referred to as the 'antichrist' and he will be loved and revered by everyone and will take that power to perform atrocities against humankind before everyone realizes their mistake. good christians will be removed from the fighting by something called the 'rapture'. everyone else will remain to be destroyed by the antichrist who will only serve the israelis. he will win the war and in those first moments of his glory, the world will be destroyed.
additional notes:
- in the extreamist form of the jewish religion practiced in israel, only the jewish are considered to be people. everyone else are animals. we only take human form so that the jewish will not be disgusted at us when dealing with us.
- as everyone else are animals made for the jewish, there is a festival in israel where non-jewish people are killed and baked into pies and eaten as a symbol that animals can be eaten and were made only for the jewish. (source: from my acquaintance that live in israel. she also told me that this is practiced by a minority of jews due to its nature but the practice is not repressed or shunned)
- israel refuses to abide by international laws that make complete humane sense if the laws go against their evil plans to take over the world.
P.S: you should read this book: 'protocols of the elders of zion'. it is supposedly fake but the position of israel today is reflected on the pages. it can't be a coincidence.
