am seriously scared to death of my husband. He has threatened on more than one occasion to bash my head in, kill me with his bare hands. He has put guns and knives in my face. He has only physically hit me twice. But he has threatened many times. The last time he threatened to bash my head in, he actually took his night stick and swung it and put a hole in our bedroom door. I ran for the phone to call the cops but he took it from me and would not allow me to do so. I recently found out that I am pregnant. He has a daughter by another relationship who is a wonderful father to. I think he'd be a great dad to my child as well, but I don't want my child in that situation. How do I get out? I don't want to ruin his career by going to the police department he works for but I want out, and I don't know how!

has anyone seen the new tv show THE ACADEMY? My question is, is the real life police academy as rough as the one that they show on television or do they turn it up a notch on the show for good television?

I had my used pick up parked in a parking lot near a busy street with a For Sale sign on it with my phone number. There were several other vehicles for sale parked there as well. There was no "towing" sign that I saw when I parked it there. It sat in the lot for over 3 weeks. I checked it every week. Then one day it was gone, and there were new "towing" signs put up in the lot. I called the company and in the morning the next day and was told the charges for towing, "gate fee" and storage for the 3 days they had it amounted to over $350.00!! I was flat broke (that's why I was selling it) and the truck is only worth, maybe, $1,000.00. A month later, I just got a phone call from the towing company saying that they are sending my account to collections for their fees, unless I sign over the title to the truck to them. Is this something I could contest in small claims court?

Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to study for these three classes? I read the chapters and write down the vocab. They are all very similar and sometimes can be overwhelming b/c there is so much information thrown at you at one time. Any help is appreciated :)

I agree that he should have never done that to her, but he said he did it in return because she was kicking and punshing him. My real question is that he was taken to jail and there they said they were going to put him in prison. The bail is $10,000 dollars, but we don't have that much money to bail him out, what could we do so they won't take him to prison? Please help

Could the charge be dismissed just because of a having a good criminal record prior to the offense?

Make it a law. You run, you get shot. Unless your proven deaf.

Would it work? If not, why so?

Hypothetically speaking ... I receive a Felony DWI and make a run for it and a bench warrant is issued. But I am in Mexico, haha the REAL land of the free =P. I dont think they would even know about the warrant of course cause they're not linked with the NCIC is it? But if coming back to the US I bet they would huh. What do you guys think? If you got pulled over in Mexico and have an outstanding warrant in the states? I dont want to sound like a criminal but I am wanting to travel the world so wondering if I could travel to Mexico, then Europe, and Australia before I get put on probation and there goes the travel plans.

It seems that A LOT of male law enforcement personnel have mustaches? Is there something culturally that tells LE officers/deputies to grow mustaches, or is it just a coinsidental observation? I am not trying to be bias or reinforce a stereotype. So serious answers only please. Thank you for your input.

I past both and am now waiting to be notified on taking the physical tests including vision, Unfortunately I have lost complete vision in my left eye but have near to perfect vision in my right eye, does this handycap exclude my candidacy from either or both departments???? other than this small detail I am in exceptional physical shape and feel I can perform all the required duties with ease.!!!

I work at a small real estate company in Michigan, and right next door to us is a large brick building with a few different places in it. Interior Designing, Hair Salon, and another place that has JUST been purchased within the last 2 months called "Spa". We here at the Realtor's office are friends with the Hair Salon owners, and they informed us that 4 young asian women work at this "Spa" place, and since they've opened, only men have gone inside. My boss and I decided to go take a look. When you go in, there are no spa products anywhere, and quite a few rooms with closed doors. When we entered, one of the young ladies came out of one of the rooms and closed the door. We asked about their rates and they only said $80/hr. We asked if they had a card, and they don't. We also took a tour and she showed us one of the many rooms - with only a matress on the floor & a candle on a table. We also heard some low pitched noises, what seemed to be a man's voice. Could this be a whore house?!

'can' and 'will' have different meanings. 'can' encompasses some situtations, but 'will' encompasses all situations. In other words, 'will' negates 'can'.

Not only that, but saying 'anything you say will be used against you' is ridiculous, because no one would use something against you in court JUST because you said it after the Miranda Warning. It also has to be meaningful.

Does anyone have clarification on the use of "Will" in this sentence (or any similar sentence that has can and will together). Maybe it's just an english idiom, but then why is it in a legal warning?

A few weeks ago I received a ticket in the mail for apparently not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. I had not been stopped by an officer but rather had been captured on videotape. It really creeped me out, especially given that the stop sign is not at a busy intersection nor had I any clue I was being videotaped.

I want to fight it because I think that, with the exception of times when it's necessary to protect lives (like at busy intersections where people run red lights) I think covertly filming people is wrong and an invasion of privacy.

What would be the best way to fight this?

Do people realize the gun is only as good as the shooter, hence why a cop with a 9mm will more than likely win in a shootout with a thug with automatic weapons. Cops trained acurate shooters who can shoot and kill with far less effort than some thug who employs the spray and pray technique

I spent nearly an hour the other day watching numerous video clips of cops tasing people. My fav is still the "Don't tase me, bro" incident at the John Kerry speech.

I'm all about cracking down on police brutality and abuse of power. But this whole tasing thing is a total riot!!

As I said this would take fine tuning, but this is the idea. We have x number of weapons like vehicles. They all have a number even weapon's. The manufacture fires one bullet from each and does a ballistic, then files it. The weapon is shipped to a dealer and this weapon is again fired and ballistics done. It shows a track from A to Z. The new owner gets a regtration just like a car. So in the end if a body showes up with a bullet, police have a good starting point. Should the weapon be sold or a barrel change then it has to be recorded. So should after a lot of fine tuning could this work? It would provide jobs to input data, research, and yes upset many gun owners but it would also reduce some bad headaches. The police do a great job but it would help them as well. Now does a private frim take it on or should th gove get into the act? Your thoughts good, bad or indifrent.

2 days ago my 2 sons aged 13 and 14 were walking home from school with 3 other boys, my eldest son found a pair of scissors on ground and was messing with them, when one of the boys asked him for them and put them up to one of the other boys face he did not hurt him, anyway my boys ran when they saw this. today when they came out of school and 2 adults were taking pictures of them it could not be to identify them because all boys were from same school. I phoned police and they told me to ask them why they were taking pics. I did not think this was the right advice. I am worried now and scared to send kids to school. I might add that my 13 yr old is autistic.
