Hypothetically speaking ... I receive a Felony DWI and make a run for it and a bench warrant is issued. But I am in Mexico, haha the REAL land of the free =P. I dont think they would even know about the warrant of course cause they're not linked with the NCIC is it? But if coming back to the US I bet they would huh. What do you guys think? If you got pulled over in Mexico and have an outstanding warrant in the states? I dont want to sound like a criminal but I am wanting to travel the world so wondering if I could travel to Mexico, then Europe, and Australia before I get put on probation and there goes the travel plans.

Just to rephrase ... its hypothetical because I am NOT going to Mexico, yes I will be here to do whatever. But curious if it was a possibility IF I had done so which was like a 20% chance depending on what Id be sentenced with.

If you are in Mexico and the US has a felony warrant for you they COULD allow extradition out of their county. Depends on the felony if the US will come looking for you or seek to have you extradited.

This is done, although not frequently.

They won't, however, allow the US to take custody of you for any Capital Offense where you can get the death penalty.

And, yes, if you cross the border back into the US and Border Patrol runs your ID, you are going to get popped.

While they are unlikely to find the warrant, they will walk you across the border if they discover you have a felony warrant. Actually, extradition is the least of your worries. The "real land of the free" ends in Mexican prisons.

I doubt Mexico would even know you are there.

I don't think they'll extradite you unless it's something really bad like murder, drug trafficking, rape, armed bank robbery, etc
