I am looking for opions on this bc i have mixed feelings. Last week on veterns day the cops buzz my apt. at 530am I let them in and they said they had a complaint about my tv being too loud. I was sleeping and the tv was not on. While they were in they heard my neighbors tv which was very loud and they said whoever called in must have given them the wrong apt number. So they went to my neighbors and knocked on his door. I guess he jsut finished smoking weed bc when he opened the door it smelled bad. Now I know smoking weed is illegal but my neighbor is a sweet 60yrs old vietnam vetern who is a little bit messed up in the head. He got arrested and charged on possesion. now i know it is illegal but i feel bad for him. He was not driving he was in his own home. I think i mostly feel bad bc he is harmeless and old. Just wanted your opinon on it. thanks

I recieved a ticket for parking too far from the curb in front of my house. The car was actually parked 24" over the curb instead of 18". It was in a residential neighborhood and not obstracing traffic in any way. Should I contest this? How likely would it be dismissed if I complain about it?

My husband got arrested on Sat. and he had his first court yesterday. But they gave him a new date for his pre-preliminary court on dec. 5th and the preliminary court on the 6th. What is the difference between those two? And between the first court appearance that was yesterday?

This is a hypothetical. But I always wondered about it. What about states/cities that don't allow guns, like Chicago or NYC. Do you go to jail?

I join a lot of websites and for certain reasons they request address, city, state, phone number, etc. Is there any legal obligation to give them my accurate information? In other words, is it illegal if I say I'm Johnny Johnson from 11112 Pine St. from wherever? (No, that's not me :P). Please let me know the details of this! Or, if you don't know, what your best guess would be! Thanks a lot!

Somebody told me that a police car or firetruck or ambulance is only classed as an emergency vehicle if it has its lights and sirens going. So legally the driver of the vehicle can only break the speed limit or run a red light when the lights and sirens are on. If they are not on then the driver must obey all the road rules the same as me.

Can somebody please tell me if this is true becuase i see plenty of police cars in this area exceeding the speed limit without their lights and sirens on?

I'm in Australia by the way, the rules may differ around the world, but i'm interested to hear how it is where you are.

Thanks heaps wise Y!A people..

Is the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) available to only authorized law enforcers, or is it available to the general public. I'm guessing just authorized persons, but I can see no reason why it would not be available to everyone.

I was told the reasons for dening parole were
1- drug/alcohol offense
2- hasn't served enough time
3- danger to public
4- hasn't adjusted to institutional life

His offense was drug/alcohol abuse
he has served 1/2 of his 3 year sentence, and I was under the impression that violent offenders served 1/2 or more of their sentence. He isn't violent.
How can he be a danger to public when everything was his personal use
and what do they mean by not adjusted to his institiutional life? do they expect him to get so used to it, he will want to return?
now they gave him a new review date for nov 07. that is 5 months prior to his mandatory release date.
This is BULL****

I already know what it does, so no need for you to state the obvious. But, can you tell me how accurate it is? I know that polygraph tests are not permissable as evidence in Court, because of its inaccuraccy, but they're still making me take one. How often it makes mistakes? What you can do to prevent such mistakes? What causes these mistakes? I have to take one soon for a Police Cadet position I just got, and I wanna know what I'll be dealing with here! Thanks!

I just got a Police cadet position with a local police department, but before it becomes final, I have to go through this intense background investigation. After I give them my completed forms, and list of references, they will call everyone and look into my past. Then I have to take a polygraph test, which is kinda freakin' me out! How can I make sure to stay calm and cool??? I really want this job and I don't want my polygraph results to show that I'm lying. I'm not really trying to hide anything...I'm telling them everything I can remember, but the test still makes me nervous.

What should I do??? Please help!!!

I was cited for operating a motor vehicle on private property the other day and I was wondering about the following: I was on a utility road that gives access to those really tall powerline towers and had no reason to suspect that the land was privately owned. There aren't any houses on it, and there were no signs posted declaring the property to be private, save for signs that warn against climbing the towers themselves. I'm in the state of Ohio, and I was wondering if I have any ground to contest the citation, after seeing no signs to indicate I was breaking an ordinance. The fine, if any, will be small and I just have to go to mayor's court at night in a small town, so it really isn't to much of a hassle, but I was still curious.

Thanks for any answers to my question.

Every election I never hear about all the nonviolent citizens that are robbed of everything and sent to prison for years to do slave labor for our government .The war in Iraq has about 3,000 casualties in 3 years the war on America has hundreds of thousands each year .These people are robbed of everything they own and sent to prison for years for offenses where there is no victem .Government have been been able to justify victemizing citizens for financial gain to any extent, since the beginning of time (jews ,American indians )This is one level above hitler and neo-nazis and clearly violates our constution .I would like views on this subject .

All my friends are saying that like on Thanksgiving when schools out, the police go around the schools with dogs and the dogs are trained to smell drugs and stuff. I left like a ton of weed in my locker and schools closed, but it's at the back behind some text books. Do you think they will know if they do go around with the dogs?
