I join a lot of websites and for certain reasons they request address, city, state, phone number, etc. Is there any legal obligation to give them my accurate information? In other words, is it illegal if I say I'm Johnny Johnson from 11112 Pine St. from wherever? (No, that's not me :P). Please let me know the details of this! Or, if you don't know, what your best guess would be! Thanks a lot!

I never do. Why should I give spammers and telemarketers the means to invade my privacy at any time ? All those websites make a fortune by reselling these data to spammers and telemarketers, it is only a big racket. Do not be a sucker.

Well, the rebel in me says, if you didn't give your right info, how will they locate you? I go to many sites as well that seem like they want to start mailing list, they get fake info all the time.

you can give them what ever info you want as long as you are not using someone else info when purchasing something. so like if you are joining yahoo for example you can give them any info you want because one they are not going to check and two you and they are not gaining anything monetary

I think you are doing the right thing by not revealing your true name and address.
