Atlanta (APD) indentified theirselves as police and kicked a door in, on a operation drug bust issue. After no one responded to answering the door, they proceeded in. A 92 year old lady open fire, wounding 3 officers and she was killed, but they had the wrong house! WHO WAS WRONG!

Unfortunately it was a horrible mistake, but the fault kinda falls toward the Atlanta PD, the DA's office. Somewhere along the line of building the case and getting the warrent, someone should have made sure they had the right address.

If the address printed on the warrent matched the house they entered then the fault is with the investigator that filled out the information when the warrent was brought to the courts for signing. The officers are not at fault since they though they were acting on a credible warrent at the time.

Since the Atlanta PD did identify themselves the old woman was wrong for shooting at them. There is no way that the officers could have known exactly who she was upon entering the house. All they knew was that they were acting on a warrant, they were entering a dangerous drug situation, they were taking fire, and three of their own are hit. They were left with no choice but to return fire and it wouldn't be until after the shooting stopped that they would clearly be able to identify the shooter.

Now if the address printed on the warrant was not the actual address of the old woman, than the officers are at fault because if they read the warrant carefully they would have known they were at the wrong house and would not have entered.

The whole situation is just too twisted and tragic. I wonder if these cops are gonna need some counseling - I'm sure they had no intention of harming this elderly woman. Being 92 she may have had some hearing problems and may not have understood the circumstances. We'll never know but what we do know is their aim was better. I can't imagine what her family is going through right now. A weird side question - say she hadn't shot at them but they did knock down the wrong door. Who pays to fix the door? Also, why do these guys love the whole bashing in the door scene anyway? Isn't that more dangerous than watching the place and arresting someone as they leave? Or is the paper work for that prohibitive? These guys are serious adrenalin junkies!

The police were dead wrong .These people have no idea what freedom and liberty are or the bill of rights . First we are supposed to be secure in our homes .Second no one on this sight was there to know they identified themselves .They just kick in doors and dont give some one a chance to open it ,much less a lady thats 90 years old . .Third they were probably wearing hoods so they looked like robbers to an elderly person .Fourth after they kicked the door in and saw a 92 year old woman they didnt know that isnt who they had the warrent for .Most of the drug busts they do ,the people havent commmited a violent act against anyone so do they need to use that much force to arrest them . An innocent person was killed trying to protect her home and person and the police will will be vindicated from any wrong doing . Is there any differance between these armed police kicking in doors of citizens that havent victemized anyone or commited a violent offense and are usually unarmed and taking their property than the gustapo in germany .

Here's the deal. No matter how young or old, what ethnicity, what sex, etc. you still have to obey the law. I don't know the circumstances of the warrant, but the police were there serving a warrant. They were acting legally as directed by a judge. The fact that the woman is 92 years old makes no difference. She shot three police officers and they returned fire.

Its a sad situation that a 92 year old woman chose to break the law and try to gun down these officers. It's a sad situation that she ended up dead. I GUARANTEE you that none of the officers who were shot, or who shot, are happy about what happened but SHE chose the outcome of the situation by her actions.

The police were wrong. However, they did identify themselves and she should have opened the door for them. Then it would not have happened. A citizen is obligated to respond to police in appropriate ways.

the old lady for shooting at them. they did what was right even if they had wrong info on the house if they thought they had the correct info and acted in good faith they are correct in doing what they did just because the officers made a mistake that dose not give you the right to shoot at them

did their warrant have the right house number that they knocked and kicked? f so they did. if they had the wrong number as specified by the warrant and were at the wrong place her family is going to be rich, because your house is your imminent domain and deadly force id=s justifiable, who was she supposed to now was telling the truth until badges could be read and during the middle f the night pistols drawn, what was she supposed to do wait 10 second and hope nobody fired on her I don't think so.Her family should get the best attorney subpoena that document ( search warrant and then sue the department and everyone present at the scene, use big numbers to intimidate the police department Scare them into deal.

I would say the Police but again if the woman had spoke out (in case she didn't move too fast) these deaths could have been prevented.

The Atlanta Pd obviously. They had the wrong house that women was defending her home. Law abiding woman has men knocking at her door how does she know they were on a drug bust and had the wrong house. The police should be accountable. I hope someone in her family files a lawsuit. Thats not just a simple mistake an innocent life was taken.
