I just bought a holiday ornament from Hallmark this morning. An hour ago I opened it up to take a look and something was wrong. It had no plastic over the ornament which all Hallmark have, and the batteries were inside of it. The compartment holding the batteries in won't stay on and the ornament itself does not work. It's suppose to light up and play music. I bought it on sale of 40% off and I went back just now to exchange or get a refund and was told all sales are final. The owner opened the ornament and said "oh, this was or demo model that was out for ppl to see and play, but your still not getting your money back." After arguing for a few minutes she called the police on me. I waited for the police and he said there wasn't a law he knew of to help and said I should go. All I wanted was preferably a new ornament or my refund. Does this sound legal? Anyone ever have a similar issue? Any suggestions on what I should, could do? I live in Michigan if anyone knows anything.

Thanks.

I have had a bank account since I was little and it is a shared account with my dad. After a rough semester in college, my dad is emptying my account to pay for room and board. We had an informal, verbal agreement that this would happen if I had bad grades, but since nothing was written or signed, is this legal?

Well, I want to be a lawyer after high school.

My questions are:

-Specifically, what do lawyers do? Do they sit at home all day researching their case prior to the trial?
-How many years do I have to study on AVERAGE?
-Is it a hard job?

What is wrong with people these days suing for 60 million cause your wife died? Or sue McDonalds cause you spilled your coffee you thought might be cold?

Is it to the point where money is all that matters to these people?

I mean 60 million 20 million or 5 dollars the person is still dead.

I understand some suits like if my wife died due to some company knowingly being neglegent and they refused to pay for the funeral I'd sue but only for the funeral costs and attorney fees . Or sueing for hospital fees but why millions of dollars?

My son is 16 years old and wants me to enroll him in a course for a Learner's Permit only. According to the DMV website the law states that a person needs to complete 7 hours of "road experience" Can a drivers school just charge for the 7 hours seperately? I always thought that any drivers ed class includes the learners permit as well. We are in the state of California.

This seems like a worthy cause which would improve the health to we as tax payers pay for.I think its outrageoues that many hard working people's tax dollars go to care for a convict who has broke the law & the taxpayer cant even afford to have insurance or go to the doctor. My solution is put tyhe convicts to work doing something productive such as cleaning off the roadsides, rasing their own food, and caring for the elderly & mentally ill instead of laying around watching tv raping other inmates,& going to their workouts to stay in shape. We only make crimnals worse than they were before they went to jail.We dont want to clean up crime bc lawyers make tons of money paid by the tax payer to take these peoples cases.

I want to support my beliefs about abortion, gay marriage, but honestly...I'm worried if I started protesting or petitioning...someone who didn't support me would burn down my house or attack my child. Or, to a lesser extent, have someone say offensive things to me or loose a friend? Do you share that fear or do you fight for what's right despite the consequences?

My ex swears that it is illegal to name a gardian for your children in a will because it is considered slavery. I know that this is completely, retardedly, false. However, he will not believe me unless I have an answer that is credible. I am from Minnesota. He says that this includes several states. I have tried to research this matter several times on the internet but to no avail. I want to name a gardian for our daughter in my will. I think he is just trying to scare me into not going through with it though. What do you think?

The National I.D. cards proposed for next year have ALL of your personal information, not just citations, but medical, banking, s.s. numbers, family history, etc.

Police, officials and merchants can see ALL on demand...but so will anyone who can get a $25 scanner. What can U.S. Citizens do to stop this Fascist idea that opposes U.S. Constitutional rights?

My brother and me got into a heated discussion about this last night. He suggested since their are so many crummy parents that their should be a law where people would have to get a license to have a child. He went on to say they would have to go thru months of doctors talking with them to make sure they are "ok" people and this would ensure that more people would raise children properly. I totally disagree with this.. What do you think?

What If you worked for the government for 10 years, and was an honest taxpayer, and all of a sudden you lost your job, and had to receive cash benefits of $236.00 monthly from the government?

Wait a minute! What if you were made by a government agency to work 25hrs. a week, at that same government agency, and an additional 16 hrs. seeking employment online at another agency, in order to receive $236.00 a month from the government? Should one get more for the amount or "work hours" demanded by this government agency? This is free labor for less than minimum wage. Am I correct? If, not, please explain.

If you were in this person's shoes, wouldn't you feel that this was unfair? Why or why not?
