I hope you're kidding. Of course it is true! What is NOT true which many people are not aware of is that you are not necessarily liable just because someone was injured on your property. The person suing has to show the property owner was somehow at fault.

Yes. If you have an icy path to your door or a rickety stair and someone gets hurt, you can be sued for negligence.

Of course it's true. Anyone can sue anyone else for anything.

More to the point, if someone gets hurt on your property you 'might' lose a lawsuit if they sue you. For them to win, though, they need to show that you were somehow at fault - either you did something that caused them to get hurt, or you were negligent in not doing something that would have prevented it.

For example, if you leave a hole in your pathway, and the mailman falls and hurts himself, you're liable. If it snows, and you leave the snow there for weeks and someone slips on it, you're liable.

If it snows overnight, and someone slips on the snow while jogging at 5am, you're not going to be liable, because it wasn't negligent of you not to have gotten up at 4am to check for ice on your sidewalk.

Yes, heck I expect you can get sued whether they are hurt or not. The question should be can they win.

Oh yes indeed. There are a few ways 'around' the circumstances of the injured. If they were uninvited then you can legally claim they were trespassing, and they acted in a criminal manner and got "injured" in their escape attempt...er...flight from the scene, there are always extenuating circumstances in these things.Keeping the exterior of the place tidy reduces the chances of a lawsuit too.

Yes, particularly if you have been negligent in something like shoveling snow from sidewalks or leaving what would be considered an "attractive nuisance" that injured kids.

Yep! Anyone can sue you for any reason whether they have a good case or not. There are way too many bad lawyers that will take their case. That is why we need TORT reform in Ca.

Yes...that is correct...if you have house and contents insurance, you should have public liability built in to the policy...in Australia...it normally comes with your policy of around about $10,000,000.

Any one can sue about anything. It does not mean they will win.

However, depending on the circumstances causing the injury - they may win.
