I mean, if you have nothing to hide, you should be able to beat the charges, right? Only those that can't beat the charges would go to jail...what's wrong with that?

I'm a recent law graduate (but not in the top of my class) and am taking the bar in February. However, I can't seem to find a job as a law clerk anywhere! Everyone wants an experienced paralegal or a licensed attorney. What's worse, I've tried getting non-law-related jobs through temp agencies and am getting too many turn-downs for the decent jobs because I'm "overly-qualified." Also, the same agencies won't place me in a clerking position because I haven't worked in a law office before. Is there any way out of this horrible predicament?

Should white-collar criminals and corporations involved in crimes be banned from giving campaign donations, donations to political parties, and from forming PACs and voter education groups?

Like when you commit a felony, you aren't allowed to vote anymore.

Would these issues have to be confined to corruption relating to bribes or other campaign/policy issues, or like your being banned from voting for committing a felony, should it apply to any corporate crime?

i go to kmart here in town, and all the time they have old ad signs, misleading prices, or no prices marked at all.
what can be done to report such behavior?
it really is a good store. i like it better then wal-mart, but if they keep up with the way they run the store, then i'll have no choice but to go to walmart.

also two years ago they took out their deli, and last week they took out their one hour photo center.

I'd like to hear some differing views on this topic. Not to stereotype, but I'm sure that some on the right feel it is immoral and some on the left feel that it is degrading to women. Are these good enough reasons for it to be illegal?

On one hand:
1) It is a victimless crime
2) If legalized, it could be regulated and made safer for men and women.
3) Practitioners could be forced to get regular AIDS tests to keep a license
4) It could be an extra tax revenue stream for the Government
5) As in Holland, it could be limited to red light districts in each city
6) It could cut down on illegal human trafficking of women from other countries because each woman would be in a registry.

I'm curious to see your viewpoints.

I've been working as a part-time leasing consultant for an Apartment community. I also go to college and I'm a single mother. My situation:
The manager of the apartment community demanded that I work every Sunday, which I never did before (I go to school and I don't have a babysitter when I return). Instead of having a sit-down discussion, he demanded that I work every Sunday or quit. So I told him I'd quit and I'd put in my 2-weeks notice. I typed up my 2-weeks notice and faxed it to the regional office and gave a copy to the manager. Upon doing this, he told me he's accepted my resignation for today and told me never to return to the office. He is now refusing to pay me for my commission that I earned up until today. I also rent an apartment at the community I "used" to work for at a 20% discount and he is removing the discount and is adding $100 above the market rate to the rent. Can he do this? I left messages to the regional office and haven't gotten a response. Should I sue?

Do courts sometimes take into consideration the precedents established by foreign courts when making a decision on an issue? I don't mean use them the same way they would use domestic legal precedents, but can they look at them and consider them while making their judgements, if no similar precedent has been established before by a domestic court?

I hear Rush Limbaugh and other conservative voices decrying Scooter Libby's indictment because it was for a "process crime" that wouldn't have taken place if not for the investigation in the first place.

Um, isn't that what Bill Clinton got impeached for?
He lied under oath about Monica Lewinsky, which also wouldn't have happened if they hadn't had the investigation in the first place.

If I go to court or somewhere else where I have to give an official oath can I leave out the
"... so hep me God" And if yes, do I have to inform somebody beforehand?
I do not believe in God and then I would already be lying in my oath.
It might not matter legally, but it does to me.
Anyone know?

My lawyers says this just means that the judge feels that I should have filed this as a complaint instead of a motion. My question is : what is the difference between a complaint and a motion?
