when i was about age six, my family came to the united states illegally. but, after a tedious and expensive proccess, i am now a permanent resident. i grew up in the ghetto, etc.. typical cliche immigrant conditions. now im a sophomore in college majoring in electical engineering.. again, my question is; what does the typical, middle-class, american-idol-loving, white american think of me...?

To make the long story short, I have a problem in my life and it is a problem that effects my whole life and the future. Basically, I have moved to this country 11 years ago and still don't have residency or any kind of status in the US. I am working with all these lawyers but I am not getting anywhere. I am in college right now and have to pay out of state tuition because I am not a resident and I can't work and can't drive a car because I need a visa to do that and I have been waiting for 11 years already. I feel depressed because I am forced to live with my parents and can't go out because I don't have a way to get anywhere. I feel like I will never have freedom. Even if I get a college degree, I won't be able to work because I don't have any status. I remember talking to my lawyer and he said that he really urges me to get married. He told me that that was my best option. Do you have any good advice for me? I can't go back because I came here when i was just a baby.

Was there a border too ?Was there a place or person to report to when other than a Native American showed up ? Were their human rights back then ? How did they explain their immigration law to new comers ? Did they need a passport ? How did it all work out other than just being here what were their laws for all 50 states?

Joe Horn shot two illegals who had robbed his neighbors house, they had the loot on them. Now the media is saying they should not have been shot just for burglary. Do they not understand our laws or just do not care??

This one seems to think he knows what is going on at your house, who you are hiring to fix your roof, and who your gardner is:

Well, this is for who ever think that immigrants should go back to their original country: Any of yall' have ever checked your background, everyone is an immigrant or have family history of being a immigrants? What would happen to the USA economy? What would happen to all the different cultures found in the USA? What are other countries supposed to do about immigration in their countries? Answer these question!! Think about what would happen to all the people you are trying to kick out.Have you ever though that many people came here because it's considered a free country, and maybe a very safe place, also we can help our families from here, or help people in needs!! In my opinion, immigrants with no legal problem in their countries should be givena chance!!!

I wanted to thank everyone who answered my last questions about my husband's I-485 (Adjustment of Status) and immigration interview! I do have another question, however, regarding my husband's Work Permit (I-765)...

Ok, here's the thing - my husband filed for his Work Permit (I-765) waaay back in June of this year. After about 4 months of not hearing anything, we contacted the Immigration Offices and found out that there was some sort of "hold" placed on my husband's paperwork. (Apparently, someone at the Immigration Offices forgot to lift this hold, after we had sent them the paperwork to their "Request for Initial Evidence".)

The question is: It has been *6* months since we filed for my husband's work permit, and we have not seen, nor heard *anything* about his work permit! (I, personally, have called the Immigration Offices *4* different times - but I really don't get much of answer!)

Does anyone know if there's anything we can do? My husband's work permit will expire soon! :-(

I get a bit miffed seeing such allusions to horror. These people can just live - as all do - in their own environment.

If that environment isn't to their liking, they can change it.

Look around you. Solid evidence/research has proven without a doubt, that there will be 4 times as many people in the USA in 2020 if the current rate of immigration is not limited.

Right now, without immigrants, AMerica is pretty much a break even numbers game. One dies, one is born. O% population increase. Add to that the noted rate above. Four times as many people will be here if the current rate is continued. All these people will be immigrants.

What language will they speak? Most will be poor and downtrodden ...the USA standard immigration MO. Who is help them get going? Who will house, feed, give heathcare, educate, provide jobs for these people?

Last time I looked around where I live, housing prices for rentals are sky high and climbing ....no available homes. Fuel prices ...sky high. Food prices going through the roof. Hospitals closing due to give away healthcare to immigrants ...bankruptcy.
This is NOW. What will happen when we let in 4 times as many LEGAL IMMIGRANT?

Surely they ALL cant be working. A quick drive to your local home improvment store will tell you that. I wonder how the percentage of unemployed illegal compares to the percentage of unemployed Americans or legal immigrants.
