Justice is ironic because people have discretion to decide whether to favor a greencard holder or the one with no paper at all.

they can deport him.also there is such a thing as an immigration bond much higher than a regular bail bond.they will give him a hearing to determine if he will be deported by my guess is he will especially if he is charged with the crime.i think it is wrong to jail a 18-19 year old for sleeping with their 16-17 year old girlfriends.they tried to do that to my brother but the judge said they just couldnt see each other anymore.you know they get labeled as a sex offender when they do get charged only because they had a birthday even if they have been with the girl for years.and that sex offender label never goes away.it can keep them from getting jobs or housing and a bad reputation.it saddens me sometimes.they enforce stupid laws like this but not other major laws.

SONG1964 no a green card holder does not have the same rights as a citizen.they can still be deported.

*edit*
no as INS has a hold on him.they cannot let him go till INS clears him.try to bond him out.my ex got ROR'ed from INS, maybe they will do that.but INS has a whole other court system.just not other jails.
just let go or does he have a court date?also as his friend arent you happy nothing major happened to him?
but they have to report anytime someone with a green card goes to jail.also when they have no ssn# like your illegal friend.but they catch on to the card holder quicker.

Your friend with the green card has the same rights as an American Citizen. You friend with no papers, did they deport him? People not born in America are sometimes treated less than human by those who unfortunately work in immigration.

Good Luck

Most probably, the one with green card will be deported. The other one, none... That is what we called quack justice and he is one lucky butt hole.
