Immigration - July 2007

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Immigration

I recently asked 2 questions about citizeship and passport for a child who was 11 and born in uk but parent not British. I also asked about citizenship for someone who was now 35 and brought to England by her mother when she was only 4 months old. I received so many good quality advice from the contributors to this site. People like 'Acyla' who gave loads of links, 'Business in Barnet' , 'jimauk'. 'SA'etc. Those who could not give specific advice gave a sympathetic response and encouraging support Thank you all so much. I'm already acting on the advice and I'll keep you all posted. My main problem is that I dont know how to award stars etc on this system. That is assuming that the stars could be spread because to me everyone is a star. Still I will like to know. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH

In Arizona alone. According to yesterday's CNN they bring in $29 billion in Arizona alone. Business owners love them in Arizona, and say all these bills are racist agendas against Hispanics.
Yes illegals waste $1.9 billion which is what the racist, anti-illegals are always crying about. But the benefits outweigh the price.

What do you think??

I cannot believe the amount of hate that is posted here. No, I am not of hispanic ethnicity, I just can't believe the amount of prejudice things said here.

I understand the economic hardship of millions of immigrants has on America, but I do not believe that it should be blamed on one race. Yes, Mexicans come to this country illigally, but what is their choice? Their country came out of years of a very corupt political rule that needs to be fixed. America would be better off helping them build better healthcare and education programs rather than waste money trying to keep them out. Until then, there will be immigrants.
And let's not forget, America is a melting pot. Everyone came from somewhere. I read another post about how hispanics "push" their culture on us. What about when the first settlers came over on the mayflower? They obviously pushed their beliefs and culture, and look us now benefitting from it.

Senate and House Re-introduce Massive Amnesty for Illegal Aliens Working in Agriculture.http://www.numbersusa.com/hottopic/AGJOBS.htm

AgJOBS bills, which would provide amnesty to illegal alien farm workers, were re-introduced in the Senate and House. S. 237, S. 340, and H.R. 371 – sponsored by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Rep. Howard Berman (D-Calif.) respectively – would identify “vacant” agricultural jobs that could be filled by as many as 1.5 million illegal aliens and new foreigners over five years.

Click here to read a brief overview of the AgJobs amnesty

Under the provisions of these bills, illegal alien farm workers would be able to obtain a “blue card” granting temporary legal status for themselves and their families if they could show they have worked in the U.S. at least 863 hours or 150 work days (5.75 hours constituting a work day) during the preceding two years. Subsequently, to apply for legal residency, they must demonstrate that they have worked in agriculture here: (1) 100 work days per year each of the first five years following enactment; (2) 150 work days per year each of the first three years following enactment; or (3) over the course of the first four years after enactment, 150 work days per year for three of those years and 100 work days for the other.

How can anyone possibly take the war against terrorism seriously? One week Bush and Chertoff say they can’t enforce the law on illegal aliens working in the country, so they keep the borders wide open for all criminals to invade our country.

The next week they will both hold a news conferences warning Americans of dangerous Terrorist on their way to blow us all up! Why do the open borders crowd continue to not understand this is beyond me. Makes me wonder who the government thinks is a terrorists.

I personally think so. US admits more people in per year than any develop countries ( i think so). There are just so many categories of visas and lottery and everything for people to come in. Too easy for people to migrate. COuntries such as Australia, new zealand, singapore have one of the toughes immigration law in the world to climb over. I think they should make it more strick, what do you think?

Currently, any baby born on american soil automatically becomes an American citizen. Many illegal immigrants have been taking advantage of this and having children here, which according to the law makes them legal citizens. Should this law be done away with? if so, what affect would this have on the immigration situation we are facing in America?

It seems to me that Hispanics are the only ones that moan and complain when it comes to learning English and assimilating. No other immigrants seem to have a problem with this.
