Slowly but surely, once we get Fred Thompson in the White House the progress will accelerate.
And Pobept or whatever your name is, it's not the height of the fence, it's the electrified razor wire on top and the guards all along it that will get the job done.

I thought the President of Mexico met with President Bush and told him not to build the fence because his people won't be able to invade if they can't get across.
So Bush apologized and said he would do something about it to see that it never gets built no matter what those damn American's have to say about it.
But I highly doubt that the President of Mexico knew that the fence was only a joke and Bush never intended to have it built in the first place.
But if Bush can make it look as if he won't build it for the sake of honoring Mexico he might be able to extract a few favors of his own from them.
If we want a fence along the border we will have to wait until Bush has been replaced with a President whose ethical and honest and actually has Americans best interests at heart.
But I wonder,is anyone like that running for office?
Because so far it seems everyone whose running is not much different than what we have now.

Yes, 180 miles will be completed by early September. They are building it 50 miles at a time. I'm amazed at the number of people on here that don't have a clue, but answer any way.
The fence the minutemen are building is on private ranch land and is not related to the one the government is building.
The border fence is double and even triple in some places.
The money was approved for 800 miles in the first phase with the rest to come.
It also includes more border guards and sophisticated electronic sensing devices all over the desert.

I really don't know, but they should get the fence up immediately. It should be built like the one in Israel, that will keep them on their side.
Even if the fence does get built, don't you think these illegals will do what it takes to make tunnels to get in the U.S? I mean they already got caught smuggling drugs by digging a hole from one house in Mexico to another one across the border. Not sure if anyone of you heard that story. I might be wrong at telling it this way, but check for yourself if I am incorrect.
One thought, people who are doing time in our prisons should be the ones to build the fence, since our tax dollars is already paying for their stay in the prisons and jails. Just a thought!

I don't know. I'd say not enough, as long as we have unrestricted border crossings. By the way, if the fence is the "Republican fence", is the unfenced portion of the border to our sovereign country to be known as the "Democratic open border"? Sounds pretty stupid, right?

I heard yesterday that they won't fund the construction and that we have a whole 13.5 miles built! Wow!!!
I also was reminded that if the Senate's amnesty bill had pass, it would have decreased the number of miles for the fence. Of course I doubt that they want to build it or will build it.

Well...it was until Calderon protested that some of the fence was on the Mexican side and Bush said it would be taken back down.
Our government and theirs is the holdup...pity is..illegals are holding up our nation's taxpayers, not with a gun, but with benefits, free education, healthcare and jobs.
