Senate and House Re-introduce Massive Amnesty for Illegal Aliens Working in Agriculture.http://www.numbersusa.com/hottopic/AGJOBS.htm
AgJOBS bills, which would provide amnesty to illegal alien farm workers, were re-introduced in the Senate and House. S. 237, S. 340, and H.R. 371 – sponsored by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Rep. Howard Berman (D-Calif.) respectively – would identify “vacant” agricultural jobs that could be filled by as many as 1.5 million illegal aliens and new foreigners over five years.
Click here to read a brief overview of the AgJobs amnesty
Under the provisions of these bills, illegal alien farm workers would be able to obtain a “blue card” granting temporary legal status for themselves and their families if they could show they have worked in the U.S. at least 863 hours or 150 work days (5.75 hours constituting a work day) during the preceding two years. Subsequently, to apply for legal residency, they must demonstrate that they have worked in agriculture here: (1) 100 work days per year each of the first five years following enactment; (2) 150 work days per year each of the first three years following enactment; or (3) over the course of the first four years after enactment, 150 work days per year for three of those years and 100 work days for the other.
How can anyone possibly take the war against terrorism seriously? One week Bush and Chertoff say they can’t enforce the law on illegal aliens working in the country, so they keep the borders wide open for all criminals to invade our country.
The next week they will both hold a news conferences warning Americans of dangerous Terrorist on their way to blow us all up! Why do the open borders crowd continue to not understand this is beyond me. Makes me wonder who the government thinks is a terrorists.

I just sent my daily emails with the link to my legislators, amazing isn't it? They are breaking the reform bill into pieces and trying to sneak it past the public..... I have seen two sections of the reform bill hit the Senate already..

Don't forget UNLIMITED amnesty for shepherds, goat herders and dairy workers. We already have unlimited visas for seasonal ag workers - why can't the farmers use them? They only have to work 100 days in 4 years to qualify and pay a $250 fine. I think I was an ag worker - I'd like a refund of all the income tax I've paid over the last 4 years. Call your senator and complain. I did - although w/ Dick Durbin and Obama, I know it won't help. Backbreaking? I baled hay in high school and college (back when they were bales, and not rolls). I made good money doing it and was in great shape. Several of my friends have taken over their parents farms and manage to make it work the way their parents did - w/ local kids for seasonal work. Working Class Youth has a good point - the moment these workers are legally able to work here - they'll head for the higher paying jobs, leaving the farmers to find new illegal help. And the cycle will continue.

From what I've read, California would rank 6th in the world money creation wise, if they were a country.
Do you like, Almonds, grapes/raisins, oranges, cucumbers, tomato products, rice, artichokes, strawberries, avocados, lettuce, sugar from sugar beets, watermelons, prunes, specialty flowers, beef, milk, potato chips, onions, cabbage, and a host of other products produced in California & trucked across the country.
Most of this stuff is picked, planted, and cultivated by non-Americans because Americans won't do the manual labor required.
Why?
The wages paid are mostly seasonal piece work wages and not high enough for Americans to be interested in.
You know many years ago Americans would do this type of work,,,,,,,,because on the Gold standard wages & prices remained relitively stable & there wasn't such a very wide price gap between the labor industry & the service industry. {I'm speaking about government services.}
Now you know exactly why Ron Paul wants to get rid of the Fed & go back on the Gold standard.
Thank you.

Moan...
I cannot support anything that gives an advantage to someone who came here illegally. From your article:
"if they could show they have worked in the U.S. at least 863 hours or 150 work days (5.75 hours constituting a work day) during the preceding two years."
Why cannot they have a guest worker program that does not make a path to permanent residency / citizenship? Want to work, come and work then go home. Family stays at home.

Yes, as written, the AgJobs legislation would provide an amnesty for illegal aliens engaged in agricultural work and their spouses and children—potentially 3 million people—and would provide few safeguards against fraud in the application process. It also relaxes the standards for H-2A agricultural guest worker visas.
My position is that I am willing to give amnesty to some of the agricultural workers as long as it is part of a compromise immigration reform bill that emphasizes securing our borders and increased funding for enforcement of our current immigration laws. We really need many more ICE agents to put a dent in the 600,000+ alien absconders in our country.

These Bills are all identical, and both Senate ones sponsored by Diane Feinstein. Why there needs to be two Senate Bills that are exactly the same I have no idea.
s237 was intrudoced 1/10/07 and was referred to Senate committee with no action on it since then.
s340 was introduced 1/18/07 and was referred to Senate Judiciary Committee with no action since then.
So these have been idle with no action for 6 months now.
but are still open bills.
What you say Californians, time to get rid of Diane Feinstein?

Yes it's the so called guest worker bill that has been around for awhile. The government is in in bed with the big AG. companies.
Call your representatives because they are going to try to sneak this through.

I agree with another answerer. We need to hold off these traitorous scumbag senators and lawmakers for now, and do our best to make sure Ron Paul gets the Presidency - he's really our only hope.
