I have read many questions on this topic over and over. First spend some time on the US govt immigration site at www.uscis.gov, then learn more on www.travel.state.gov to learn more about passports visa etc.

www.ed.gov for foreign students, teachers, study abroad. etc.

So, next time you see a question on yahoo you can pass around the website i have posted above. Be kind as someone has gave you helpful info, help someone else as well.

The US hates illegal immigrants but we welcome those who have gone through the trouble our ancestors did and do the paperwork the legal way.

www.altavista.com has an online translator called babelfish in many langauges. you can cut and paste text onto the site.

ed.gov also tells how to get your foriegn educational training credential for example. teachers, doctors, lawyers and you can learn that some jobs are easier to get into the us than others.

is there anyone i can talk to at U.S.C.I.S. about my chances of getting a visa to visit my 3 year old son in STL, i have'nt seen him in 18 months as i was refused a visa in london. i'm scared to reapply for a visa, i was told if i get refused again it will be virtually impossible to get one. I don't want my son to grow up not knowing his father. His mother does'nt live with him, he is being raised by his grandparents. I have looked at the USCIS site & don't know which option would apply to my case. I don't have the money for lawyers, i'm 45yrs old so the student thing is'nt for me,i'm english so the green card lottery does'nt apply.there must be some way to be with my son! PLEASE HELP!!!

Iam an American Citizen but im not against anything im just wondering why most of us Americans are against illegal immigrants cause if they dont get the amnesty they'll keep on benefiting on the tax we pay but if they get legalization they would help increase the economy of the US just imagine 12 more million people paying the tax. Please give your ideas on this matter. Thanks!

since they are not paying taxes and taking money out of the pockets of americans-lets face it illegals are getting paid from somewhere and anyone that uses the word thief to describe an illegal immigrant is just wrong and any of your thoughts will not be considered because its a hateful label. A thief is a thief, don't get an illegal trying to better there life confused with that. Most peoplemay not admit it but they would do the same and break the law to feed their family.

If there was no work, why do they keep coming? I'm sick of your racist hate mail, i'm not even Mexican, lol. Part of the reason I ask these questions is to do a study on how many people will give a response that is hateful. I simply just don't care about illegals. If some illegal takes my job its because he's doing the same work for less. Business owners care about overhead and profits more then they care about keeping blue collar workers happy. I agree there should be limits set on how many come in, but I also believe who wants to come here should be able to. And building a fence, please what is this the 'great wall of mexico'?

Last year, my mom(US citizen) applied for my immigrat visa and it was granted. i went to USA last aug.. while im there, they process my green card, but due to a presonal problem, i was unable to wait for my greencard so i went back after 2 weeks in my country with my dad(not US sitizen) but my green card is still on the process. now, after 2 months, my mom recived my green card in the usa.

Recently a judge in the United States gave a convicted sex offender (who is an American citizen and works in the US) the choice of serving time in the U.S. or living at home in Canada with his wife and three daughters. Of course there was a national outcry on part of the Canadians who absolutely did not want this "person" in our country and the Provincial and Federal government both want to boot him.

Canadian immigration arrested him as soon as he was across the border but let him go under the condition that he stays in his town with his wife and daughters.

My question is, where does this judge get off giving an American pervert the choice of going to jail or coming to my country and posing a threat to my people? Wouldn't there be an American whining outcry like there usually is? How would you all feel if the tables were turned?

Ottawa has ruled out amnesty for the estimated 200,000 undocumented workers toiling in Canada's underground economy, saying it would not be fair to those who have applied legally and are waiting in line, according to a letter obtained by The Globe and Mail.

Allowing illegal workers to stay would likely “encourage more illegal immigration,” noted Linda Arseneau of Citizenship and Immigration Canada's ministerial enquiries division in an Oct. 18 letter to the Universal Workers Union.

“Even a small increase in the number who decide to come here and stay here illegally based on the hope of regularization would simply recreate the very problem the proposal is supposed to fix,” the letter says.

The decision is a bitter disappointment to Portuguese and Hispanic groups, home-builder associations and unions in Ontario that have lobbied CIC to allow undocumented workers in the construction industry to regularize their status.
The Canadian government is enforcing its immigration laws. There goes the American Open Borders Lobby's excuse its too hard to enforce our own immigration laws.

If these ILLEGAL ALIENS stole their way into America and despise our culture and language- what kind of KARMA do you think they should have- what do they deserve!.

In a fair (based on their honestly and behavior) and just- equal punishment that is suitable for the crimes committed- what should be the consequence for those who broke our laws.

have a spot so you can see who's online and whos not? Or like if you click on someones info it should say on or off line? I mean what's the point of even trying to IM someone or even try to axchange views on a topic or answer if you don't know if the person is there?

I realized that the topic category is wrong - it shouldn't be "Immigration" as I don't have a problem with someone coming to this country legally. The header should read ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. To many people are bleeding hearts and say oh they just want to better themselves from back home - well you know what it costs for those of us here legally to have ILLEGALS here...If they don't like the country they came from - stop protesting with the mexican flag in the streets - if you want to protest something go back home to the country you came from and protest and fix your own country first.

Why when I walk about do I see so many parasitic young yobs not working and on benefits.
Why the hell do 600000 immigrants this year find gainful employment when the UK scroungers remain on benefits.
perhaps we should send our scroungers back to Poland etc and see if they actually survive, or even better send them to Pakistan with real poverty and no benefits, perhaps they might want to come home and work and contribute to all like the 600000 have done.

I'm Welsh and my BF is from Kent.

We live in South Wales but I'm getting sick of life here, despite it being my homeland. I can't get a govt job/local auth job as I don't speak fluent Welsh.

Not only does my BF have to put up with constant crap from anti-English Welsh Nationalist morons, but there are no jobs! He's a qualified mechanic but can't seem to get work here - the last few jobs he applied for were given to Polish immigrants (who work for £4 an hour). As a qualified mechanic he is entitled to £8-£10 an hour but I guess the employers would rather employ foreigners than pay a decent wage. He's perfectly capable, skilled and experienced.

The local councils are a joke round here too. They let families who fall on hard times and lose their homes to mortgage repossession languish in B&Bs or throw them on the street as "intentionally homeless", but they'll give houses to teen mums, people who have never worked etc

I feel moving is our only hope. How are things in Kent?
