You don't need a visa or any permits, only a valid passport. You need to apply for an identification number before you start working or open up bank accounts.
Real estate is very expensive here but prices might go down next year if bank expectations are right. I would suggest you rent before you buy. Rentals normall don't go through agents so best way would be to advertise in the newspaper.

I notice everyone is saying how cold it is... as far as I know, London is colder in the winter ;). It's not that bad but never gets very warm.
But it's easy and cheap to travel out of here and even though most things here are very expensive, some things are cheaper. Telephoe services here are one of the cheapest in Europe for example.

You shouldnt need a visa since its an european country. Make sure you dress for the cold!!

they have lots of food, but most of it is pre-packaged, i'd rethink, perhaps waitrose is better.... dont think you need a visa
