With amnesty you also make those 12 million for welfare legally.More people on the public dole. You are enabling a criminal to commit more crimes by rewarding an illegal act with citizenship.
Others come here legally they do what the law requires, they wait until they can come here via the legal route. Why should they have had to pay and wait and go thru all the trouble to come into the nation legally and then they see all these people that are law breakers getting amnesty for just being illegal. That's ludicrous.
The last time the US granted amnesty,to illegals, within 5 years of the amnesty this nation had gained just as many new illegals as we granted amnesty to.That why amnesty didn't work then and it wont work now.
No amnesty

The controversy surrounding immigration has captured the attention and stirred the emotions of the nation. But most people, particularly those who oppose a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants, are uninformed about the role of illegal immigrants in the country.
People against the presence of illegal immigrants in the United States are quick to point out the supposed negative effect they have on the economy. They point to a drag on wages and the use of public services - especially schools - as evidence.
But the effect of immigration on wages is not as great as some believe. Many supporters of tougher restrictive immigration laws point to a study by Harvard economists George Borjas and Lawrence Katz to show that immigrants have displaced unskilled native workers and lowered their wages.
There have been many attacks on immigrants because of their supposed inability to assimilate. But Card explains that the children of post-1965 immigrants, who have arrived mainly from Latin America, have higher education levels and wages than those of natives, and that even the children of the least-educated immigrants "have closed most of the education gap with the children of natives."
Those who want to punish illegal immigrants have little, if any, economic or social reason to do so. Immigrants obviously broke the law when entering the country, but that only shows how weak arbitrary laws are against the law of supply and demand.
Immigrants are not just factors of production. They are people willing to work hard to have a better life. There is nothing illegal about that.

#1. It is not right to give amnesty to approx. 20 million people who knowingly and willfully broke our law on immigration and then proceeded to break more laws, such as fraud, by using fake, forged, stolen or rented ID's.
#2. It is not fair to the people who immigrated here the legal, time consuming way to allow amnesty to illegal immigrants.
#3. Controlling immigration allows for a certain number of people from diverse countries to immigrate here on an equal basis. Illegal immigration has allowed an over abundance of people from one region (Latin American countries) to come into the USA unchecked.
#4. Most do not pay taxes and most DO get welfare. Hence, they live off the American tax payers but do not contribute through taxes.

If we give illegal immigrants amnesty, we better watch out, because if you notice. Mexicans are a race that sticks together. That is a good thing for them, but not for America. They will have the right to vote & gang up on all other races to "try" to take control of this country when they could have done that in their own country. Although I haven't seen the movie "A Day Without A Mexican" (& I care not too)... To me, a day without a Mexican will be less traffic & not having to press #1 for "English anymore!!! I'm sure I can name quite a few more pros than cons when it comes to sending all 44 million back where they belong. I might sound like a racist person, but I'm not... I am only thinking about the future of us Americans. If we don't put a stop to this invasion right away, we are going to have major problems. Have you seen how many Hispanic children (legal & illegal) attend our schools here in America??? It is slowing our children down to have to wait for them to learn English first. I've seen this with my own eyes. My 4 yr old nephew is in Head Start. He already knows his alphabet & numbers; but... he has to be bored in class, because the teacher is busy teaching the Mexican children in Spanish 1st & then repeats the same thing in English. So my nephew has to sit through Spanish, before he is told the same thing in English... Now tell me... IS THIS FAIR?????

Amnesty is an admission of defeat. I for one am a winner, not a loser.
Illegals should be herded back to their legal residency, all at once or one at a time.
Citizenship should be attainable for anyone on the planet who qualifies. It should be relatively speedy - say no more than 5 years. Additionally each individual should have a bonded American citizen "sponsor". And the sponsor should only be allowed to sponsor one "legal" immigrant.

If amnesty is granted there will just a a new stream of immigrants coming into the US and it will start all over again. Borders must be secure before ANY amnesty is granted. Everyone should agree with that.

If you have an amnesty you will have a flood of illegal immigrants, you'll basically be saying that U.S. citizenship is being handed out for free. Everyone will know that if we grant it now we'll grant it again later. We might as well declare the entire population of Mexico to be U.S. citizens.

Amnesty gives the now 'legal' citizens the right to bring over their family members who will have access to all government services. Hello...you think taxes are bad now.

No you are not an American, you are UN-American.
if they get amnesty the cost of social services would triple!
the cost is now $ 80 Billion dollars a year for social services for illegal aliens. this is paid by taxpayers.
Now, lets see:
80 billion x 3 = $ 240 Billion a year. your taxes will increase if this happens.
if they get amnesty that mean we would pay $240 Billion dollars a year for illegal aliens to enjoy:
Welfare, section 8 housing, food stamps, medicaid, WIC, free school lunches, free after school child care, free education, free legal services, free college tuition, free interpreters, free get out of jail cards, free state check for each child you can pop out...
