MY bad, I reread it, and it said 90% of readers polled said they were aginst amnesty, however this should reflect what the rest of America thinks of the subject.

Your stats are obviously flawed.. But even if..or in reality when, the limited amnesty is put into place for illegal immigrants, the likely outcome will be allot of upheaval in the immigrant community.. Because any amnesty will contain a provision requiring registration. Most Illegal IMS. will be afraid or defiant about registration....thus law enforcement will have a freer hand afterward in removing anyone with out the proper Papers.

This amnesty is the first step...It will help bring the tax roles up.. it will reduce, eventually the cost of removal/deportation..and the work force will stabilize as the assimilation of registered workers grows.

The most important thing in the mind of the American people is their survivor in our own country and the illegals here in America is to blame for it. We are in war with this invasion and we have to stop it for the benefit of our self and the benefits of our children. All illegals have to go back to their home and seek their future in their own country like we Americans want to do it in our own country the USA. Their is nothing personal with our attitude, just plain survivor. You have a good one and wake up America.

Of course people will be outraged. But, we don't have to worry about that because illegals are not getting amnesty.

Clone, where did you get your stats?

Did you know, that the Democrats are poised to win both the house and senate on Nov7. According to the most recent polls they are leading the polls....I think it has mainly to do with the poor job the GOP has done with the Iraq mess.....

BTW, Rick Santorum, the loudest and greatest opponent to illegal immigration is losing in his own state of Pennsylvania....What are your thoughts?

"Reuters/Zogby Poll: Dems 44%, GOP 33% on Generic Congressional Ballot"

Hope for another. Just as well, w/out immigrants America would die out. Competing w. the new up and coming superpowers: China, India and (Russia if as likely they rise from the ashes), will take a seriously large population. Fortunately you have plenty of room and hopefully are up to the challenges that your forefathers and previously the British Empire coped w. and gained everything from, largely by reasonably fair exchange of labour, wealth and resources rather than conquest.

It would just be fair to them (the "illegals" as you call them). They've all been there for a long time and are working and paying taxes and all that stuff without the benefit of the right of suffrage, etc.

Frankly, I think it is so ironic that a country founded by immigrants from "Ye Olde Worlde" would be so selfish, mean & callous as to "close the door" on and be so stringent & strict on people wanting to migrate to "their" country.

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door..."

I think there would be a major divide between government and the legal people. This is our America, WE should NOT cater to the needs of these people who have broken one of the fundamental laws of America- Immigration.

More illegals will come thinking that eventually they too will get amnesty.
The welfare system would be overloaded and taxes would have to be increased to meet the demand.
