Government - October 2007

Some people say government is corrupt, but I believe the main problem is money and people with it, and who want more of it. They do not care about their country, it's military, or it's citizens, all they care about is getting more money and keeping it, and giving to their family to keep the cycle of corruption going. So, does it really matter where you live, as long as people with money lack a social conscience then corruption and oppression will continue to happen. Do you believe that rich people care about there country as much as they would care about another rich person from another country who could help them get more money?

Here we are, how many years after the fact, with Katrina still with its mess in the aftermath in LA and no hope in rebuilding - In CA, with the wildfires, everyone in the US is dialed in and it has become a National disaster before it is even over. What, CA residents homes and lives have a higher value than Katrina victims? I'm confused as to why everyone is so "johnny on the spot" when it comes to CA wildfires but "sleep at the wheel" when it comes to Katrina?

Yahoo News has the above headline, but once you read the story you find out that the American helicopter attacked a group of men planting IED's and fired on them, then they chased them into a house, which was then destroyed. Of the 11 killed, 6 were supposedly civilians.

Who's fault was this----the Iraqi who took refuge among civilians? Will the pilots of the helicopter be court-martialed. Will Murtha, Kerry, Reid, and Polosi call our troops murderers from the floor of Congress?

With nearly 47 million Americans, or 16 percent of the population without health insurance and that number continuing to rise every year as health care becomes more expensive, what are your issues against universal health care?

Countries that do have universal health care like Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Sweden, and the UK all have higher life exectancies and lower infant mortality rates. As well, they all have lower per capita expenditures on health care (several thousand dollars less per person), lower healthcare costs as a percent of GDP, and less money as a % or government revenuse spent on health care.

My feelings is that universal health care will be very hard to implement in the US as Insurance Companies and the Pharmaceutical Industry all have a great influence on our politcal parties.

I was stunned when I heard this question from my teacher.
In Singapore, Governance functions as follows:
1) Legislative(Makes law)
People involved: President+Members of Parliament
2) Executive(Carries out the law)
People involved: (President+Cabinet[PM included])
3) Judiciary

Is he involved in Legislative too and define Member of Parliament(Does it mean For eg. Minister for Defence)?

Government to include this in the infrastracture in all the cities and issue guidelines to local government with budgetory provisions every year. This will arrest road accidents like blue line in delhi not to be repeited in other metros.
