why are they wanting to pass legislation to prohibit abortion and gay marriage

Conservatives believe that governance should be done at the lowest level practical. Therefore, they believe in a small federal government, and believe that the federal government should do only those things that it's not practical for state and local governments to do.
That's why conservatives of all stripes believe things like abortion and gay marriage should be left to the states.

Neither of these would cost the government money or require a new department to oversee.
I dont agree with gay marriage and I do not support abortions. In the case of abortions, the answer isnt to ban it but to educate people about what it really is and they will then make the right decision on their own.

Because you support Planned Parenthood that supports abortion with your tax dollars. Gay marriage will cost tax dollars if allowed.
Personally my Lord says no to both and so do I. My tax dollars need to be used for good and not bad.

Both of those are issues to be decided by the states. The national government should have nothing to do with it. Let the people of each state decide.

Republicans want control and power over citizens actions and the way we live our lives with out responsibility of contributing funds for the consequences of the laws they pass.
