I understand the financial objections to providing a Universal Health Care system to America. My question is: Does the government have a moral or ethical responsibility to provide a means for citizens to recieve the best healthcare possible? If yes, what other moral obligations do you believe the government has to it's populus? If no, does the government have any moral obligation to it's people? Please answer the question without talking about money. Thank you.

...seize power?

Against all odds, General Petraeus is starting to turn things around in Iraq. Former Sunni Ba'athists are defecting from the insurgency and cooperating with US forces. It is possible that the Americans might be able to pull victory from the jaws of defeat, should Petraeus's tactics continue to work.

The United States needs a strong, capable leader to return it to its former days of glory. If General Petraeus defeats the insurgency, should he return home and overthrow the evil, incompetent, corrupt President George Bush II?

The only way the government receives money is through confiscatory means. The government produces no goods or services so to pay for "free" healthcare, how many taxes will have to be increased?
I've seen an argument that government controlled healthcare would be similar to govt run schools, police, etc. Horrible argument but I'd take a student from a private school over public (government) anyday.
People really want the same inadequate peeps who work at the DMV making their healthcare decisions?

This is Australian Politics but is does concern Global Warming, The current prime minister John Howard made the argument that we Australians can not sign Kyoto because he wants tougher Carbon targets placed on both China and India. He said he had recent discussions with both George Bush and the Chinese Premier and John said the Americans were on GW ,prepared for concessions which was interesting?Kevin Rudd destroyed this line of reasoning by stating that indeed if the US and Australia were not prepared to Ratify Kyoto, then they might in the future not meet tougher restrictions placed on them ,and India not wanting to be disadvantaged will also pull out and the whole thing will fall apart, the USA is the key to the whole thing as the whole world needs leadership on this important issue.

We're coming close to a new election year and many people are outraged by the way our nation has been running. There is a massive divide between a Christian nation, and everyone else. Many think we need more of God in our government, too many some say. Many think that the founders of our country were right and that religion should have no place in politics.

It's my belief that Christians, moreover, Christian Republicans have set our country on a path of self-destruction. With foreign affairs at their worst and the most unmoral of decisions being made by our government in the name of religion instead of progress, what justifies these actions? Why isn't anyone holding them accountable? Is it because over 70% of Americans are Christian?

Can anyone give a justifiable reason why something as tainted and wrong as American politics should involve religion? Or do you think it is overly religious people like Bush that have tainted our government?
